Two more gun bills.

This one is insidious and is important to ALL gun owners, regardless of the state you live in:

HOUSE BILL
No. 1745 Session of 2007

INTRODUCED BY JAMES, YOUNGBLOOD, JOSEPHS, CURRY, KIRKLAND,
MYERS, THOMAS AND WILLIAMS, JULY 13, 2007

REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON FINANCE, JULY 13, 2007

AN ACT

1 Amending the act of March 4, 1971 (P.L.6, No.2), entitled "An
2 act relating to tax reform and State taxation by codifying
3 and enumerating certain subjects of taxation and imposing
4 taxes thereon; providing procedures for the payment,
5 collection, administration and enforcement thereof; providing
6 for tax credits in certain cases; conferring powers and
7 imposing duties upon the Department of Revenue, certain
8 employers, fiduciaries, individuals, persons, corporations
9 and other entities; prescribing crimes, offenses and
10 penalties," providing for the imposition of an additional tax
11 on ammunition.

12 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
13 hereby enacts as follows:
14 Section 1. The act of March 4, 1971 (P.L.6, No.2), known as
15 the Tax Reform Code of 1971, is amended by adding a section to
16 read:
17 Section 202.1. Imposition of Tax on Firearms and
18 Ammunition.--In addition to any tax imposed under section 202,
19 there is imposed upon each separate sale at retail of firearms
20 ammunition, within this Commonwealth, a tax of two per cent of
21 the purchase price, which shall be collected by the vendor from
22 the purchaser and shall be paid over to the Commonwealth as
1 provided in this article.
2 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.

These rats are using the same tactics they used against smoking. 2% doesn't sound like much...but give it a year and it will be 5%...or more. This one must be nipped in the bud!

This one applies to PA Gun owners only:

HOUSE BILL
No. 1758 Session of 2007

INTRODUCED BY THOMAS, JULY 17, 2007

REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON JUDICIARY, JULY 17, 2007

AN ACT

1 Authorizing municipalities to impose restrictions on the
2 purchase, sale and possession of firearms; and establishing
3 the Illegal Firearm Trafficking Bureau.

4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Short title.
7 This act shall be known and may be cited as the Illegal
8 Firearm Local Control Act.
9 Section 2. Definitions.
10 The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
11 have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
12 context clearly indicates otherwise:
13 "Firearm." As defined in 18 Pa.C.S. § 6102 (relating to
14 definitions).
15 Section 3. Local control of illegal firearms.
16 (a) General rule.--Notwithstanding any other provision of
17 law to the contrary, a municipality may enact an ordinance
18 providing for the imposition of restrictions on the unlawful
1 sale, purchase and possession of firearms, rifles and shotguns
2 in the municipality.

3 (b) Illegal Firearm Trafficking Bureau.--The Illegal Firearm
4 Trafficking Bureau shall be established in the Office of
5 Attorney General. The bureau shall work, in conjunction with the
6 local district attorney's office, to assist municipalities in
7 developing the ordinance authorized under subsection (a).
8 Section 4. Effective date.
9 This act shall take effect in 60 days.

This gives local control to what is legal and illegal. It should fail under the State Pre-Emption laws, but contact your local representatives.

Gunowners, shooters need to pay attention to this, and do not forget to contact your elected things, voicing your opposition thereto.

I am not a smoker, but have been fighting smoking bans tooth and nail. It is the shallow end of the slippery slope. Seems my idea to stockpile 10,000 rounds of ammo gets better every day.

Article 1, Section 21:
The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.
No matter what it costs apparently. What happened to no taxation without representation ? Sounds like this is a one sided scr*wing to me.
