PA Law to allow regulation of sales

Now that I read this, it gets worse. Allows local governments to

- Regulate firing ranges.
- Regulate the brandishing or display of firearm.
- Further restriction of air rifles.
- Regulate the storage of firearms.
- Limit the ownership, possession, transfer or transportation of assault weapons within the city limits of 'first class cities'
- Require background checks or waiting periods on the purchase of firearms in addition to that required by State law.
- Limit the number of firearms that may be purchased in a specific period of time.

You are correct.

Basically, PHL's been whining, begging and pleading for exemption from state pre-emption for the last couple of years, and it seems that this is their dream wishlist.

Philadelphia devoutly wishes to become New Jersey.

AFAIK, it doesn't stand a chance. {Knock wood}

Sounds like Pittsburgh, Philly and Harrisburg want to enact assault weapons bans.

Didn't Philly try a ban in the past?

Yup, Philly tried a local ban. It was soundly shot down in flames by the PA supreme court, which smacked them down hard.

Approximately, the quote was something like, "The PA state constitution provides that the right of people to keep and bear arms for the defense of themselves and the state shall not be questioned. It does not say that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be questioned ....except in Philadelphia".

this is what you get, esspecialy in eastern PA. Eery idiot from New York and Jersey that gets a little money and wants to move to the "country" seems to buy a house in the Poconos, to the effect of about five miles up the road from my house (ex-house anyway) they were building a friggin projects. I had thought about moving away from all the idiots before that, but the building of projects was the last straw and I was out of there in less then four months.

Case in point at least eastern PA is slowly morphing into Jersey, enough of the state isn't at the moment but that is slowly doing it as well.

I kinda wish we could trade Philly to Maryland...we'd get the MD Eastern Shore, they'd get Philly.

As far as Pittsburgh..well, western MD is a nice area!

Look how that would benefit MD...they'd have more lefties and anti-rights people.

Boy...if only...

This is a near-blatant hijack, sorry:uhoh:

I am moving to PA this summer for one-year-long training at the place that's located at the Philadelphia's north side. Since you, gents, appear well-informed about Philly's political climate, I am asking for a recommendation of a favorable area/suburb where I could rent an apartment.
My requirements to that area are: quiet, safe, firearms-friendly and within 20-30 min drive from Philly's north side.

Sounds like Pittsburgh, Philly and Harrisburg want to enact assault weapons bans.

This law wouldn't help them, would it? It only applies to First Class cities.

If it is in the state constitution, how is a house bill supposed to change that?

Pa law re gun sales

Your threads seem to be pointed towards Philadelphia and since I live 35 miles away, I could not agree with you more. I think Phila. is trying to become the murder capital of the country and the Phila have no clue on how to stop it. So the Mayor's states "lets ban gun sales and that will take them off the streets", as I said no clue. At least the shootings andkillings are among the druggies and gangbangers and therefore the City is in asense, self cleaning. JMHO:cuss:

a cheap, safe, gunfriendly apartment neighborhood within 30 minutes of north filly? good luck.

i agree, we should emancipate them and let them regulate themselves into ruin. york can stay in pennsylvania.
