Well I've finally gotten tired of living in Maryland and want to move back to PA. Unfortunately since I like my job and don't want to start looking for another one I'd have to stay as close as possible to the MD border. Does anyone know any goods towns or areas right along the border? A bonus would be if anyone would know the actual commute times from that town to Fort Meade or Greenbelt.

Ok now for the gun related part, I remember hearing somewhere that 10 acres would be the minimum if you were thinking of making your own range. Is that true or should it be larger or could it be smaller?

Small acreage problems will be more of a noise issue than a safety issue if the land has a good natural berm or backstop. With great neighbors and the right piece of land you could have a thousand yard range on a small parcel. With the wrong neighbors you could sit in the middle of a section and not be able to fire a shot.

Also check into borough, township and city ordinances against the discharge of a firearm within those boundries, among other issues already mentioned, noise, neighbors, possibly future neighbors/houses downrange.
