In the State of Pennsylvania, can you legally have a loaded rifle in the passenger compartment of the car?
 
If you have a license to carry firearms you may have a loaded handgun in your vehicle.

Unless you are a police officer, member of the military, etc you can NOT have a loaded rifle or shotgun in your vehicle even if you have a LTCF.

...or, if you have a LEGALLY OWNED SBR or sawed-off shotgun, if I understand correctly. How you would go about acquiring one is another question entirely that I do not know the answer to, other than there being a $200 tax stamp involved.

Yes, you are correct. But I was speaking about the majority of people. Most do not have SBR's or SBS's.

Legally licensed SBR's and SBS's are considered "firearms" and therefore covered under the license to carry firearms.
 
Rifles and Shotguns are not considered "firearms"? I know nothing about PA's carry laws, but I visit there occasionally so I should probably learn what I can. I'm in the Military, does that mean I'm ok, or do I have to be in a military vehicle with a military weapon for that to count?
 
You being in the military means nothing unless you are doing something in an official function.

Under PACS 6106 which covers the carrying of "firearms", rifles and shotguns are not considered firearms.
 
For military you must be on duty, in uniform, and in a military vehicle at the time to cary a loaded rifle or shotgun (a military owned rifle or shotgun). Off duty you are no different than the rest of us. Rarely do military in the US carry loaded rifles unless an MP on duty, or in the process of payroll security duty, or ammo supply depot duties.
