I just noticed today that I have installed a set of Pachmayr "Gripper" grips that are designated for S&W J-frame square butt guns (Pachmayr model # 03250), on my round butt model S&W 60-14.
This is a set of grips that I had lying around, so I just put it on without looking at it, since it appeared to fit. It seems to fit fine: no apparent slop, wiggle, or play. I haven't fired it yet, but I anticipate no problems.
I'm not crazy about spending another $35 for the round butt version of these grips (Pachmayr model # 03249) unless I really have to.
Is there anything I need to be concerned about here?
Thanks

Take it out and fire it. If YOU are happy, don’t worry about it. I tried rubber grips when I shot PPC and found the shifted between shot. Enough that I got two separate but overlapping groups.

Good luck.

Hmmm ... Well, I don't want to experiment with ammo these days. Remember though, I am not asking about the merits of rubber grips in general. I am just asking about these particular grips, not because they are rubber, but because they are designated as square butt, and I have them on a round butt gun.

If they feel tight they should be fine. If you are truly concerned you could fill the gap at the lower rear of the grip with something, but if you aren’t getting any movement I wouldn’t worry. The top of the grip frame, the base and front of the grip frame are all tight against the grip, right? Should be fine.
