found one in the back of the reloading room. been there 12-15 yrs. it's listed
as a '.22 caliber lr accuracy conversion unit'. the instruction pages say it's for
COLT GM .45 AND COMMANDER MODELS. the left side of the slide says
PACHMYAR..accuracyPSW..VI..Cal. 22 l.r. there are several icons/proof marks on this side, also.
the right side says PETERS STAHL..Made in Germany..pat. pend. and a serial #
A-11.00445. it appears to be new. the kit also includes a colt 22 lr magazine and a bag of spacers and 2 allen wrenches. an unused warranty card accompanies the kit... any info out there about this piece?

I remember seeing a very few of those and more than 15 years ago at that.
They were made by Peters Stahl in Germany and imported to the USA by Pachmayr in California. Which is nothing new to you because that is what it says right on the gun.
They were made for Browning HP and S&W M39 as well as Colt.
But I fear that is about all there is to know.

Not sure who is responsible for importing these....either Pachmyar or C&S Firearms of Waukesha Wisconsin. Either way they are all steel and of high quality. Peter Stahl of West Germany produced a number of conversion kits including the centerfire multi-caliber units for Springfield Armory under the name "Omega".

I assembled a multi-caliber set for the Browning High Power pictured below.....factory 9mm & 40 caliber, Ciener .22, and Peter Stahl .22 kit.

Have seen the Peter Stahl .22 kits can go for around $600-$700.

So it appears that only the rearmost portion of the slide reciprocates? Is that how they can get away with using steel?

Identical to how S&W designed the model 41. The front sights are interchangeable. Came with a nifty little wooden box, instructions, cleaning kit, and magazine.
