Question? How do you reinstall the sear depressor lever? I get that you make a slave pin, but how exactly does the sear depressor lever go on? Between the side of the ear and the pistol. or between the inside of the sear and the side of the disconnector? How is it pre-loaded? The factory manual is no help, and its been driving me nuts for two days. I really don;t want to haul a bucket of parts down to my gunsmith...:banghead:

Man, it's been a LONG time since I've messed with them 'extra' parts, but let me give this a shot. The sear depressor is intended to put spring tension on the sear to reduce the likelihood of the hammer 'following.' The depressor sits on the outside of the sear, and presses against the frame, IIRC.

Most people 'lose' the depressor and spring, because they're really not needed. A lot of gunsmiths build race guns with 3-3.5 pound triggers, and nobody is using GC sears with those extra parts. Their guns don't follow even when being fired like machine pistols!

That picture is exactly what I needed. Thanks to you - the beast is up and running - ...

(Wel, actually, waiting on a new reciol spring - you never know how "used" the springs are in a used gun - or what weight they are...)

Thanks again gb6491!

Richyoung I want to make sure you are aware that the Gold Cups as sold had a very light recoil spring to be used only with light wadcutter target ammunition. If you plan on running hardball loads you will need to replace the recoil spring with a heavier one (16 or 17 lbs.) I have seen a number of Gold Cups that were badly beaten from folks running hardball or heavier loads with the original 12 lb. spring.

Thanks for your concern. Thats partly why I don;t intend to shoot the pistol until I install the new Wilson full length guide rod and 18 pound spring that is on the way. I may wait until the busshing is replaced with a solid busing as well. Like used cars, you never know. I installed the heaviest spring I had laying around in my range box, instead of what came in it, just in case, so worst case it has a slightly used 16 pounder in it right now, with shock buff.
