I'd been thinking I liked the tan stock that KelTec came out with, but being thrifty decided I didn't want to have to pay for a set so I set out to paint mine. Of course I'm also lazy and didn't want to completely take the thing apart with all the little screws etc. So I decided to tape us the pieces that didn't want painting, then got a little artistic (or maybe that was clumsy). Anyway I used the Krylon Fusion Camo paint in tan, with a couple of dark brown stripes.

I didn't paint the AR's, but here is the new DPMS 16" bull barrel upper on a DPMS lower, 6 position stock, JP trigger, Nikon 3-9 scope and angled mount on the gas block for mounting a light if wanted.

And finally the reborn .50 Beowulf, RRA lower, stock trigger, offset mount with light for pig hunting. I went back to the A2 stock because it just wasn't comfortable shooting with the 6 position.

Nice!

I'm curious about how the Kel Tec stacks up against two really nice ARs?

I actually like the KelTec quite a lot. It's not as accurate of course, and the trigger is heavier, probably around 6 pounds, but it has cleaned itself up to be fairly crisp now. It's as good as the stock DPMS trigger was, maybe better, because the DPMS had lots of creep and felt like you were dragging it across sand.

The main thing I like about the KelTec though is the weight, it's exactly what a .223 should be. It's much easier to carry in the field, and is accurate enough for close range varmit shooting.

I've handled a Kel Tec but never shot one and I have qualified with several different ARs. When the Kel Tec came out I thought they had the right idea and I think I'm going to start a new penny jar labeled Kel Tec. At the rate I save for guns I should be shooting it sometime next year! Since the gun is so light I'm going to go for the A version and get back two inches of barrel.
