Are there any .50 bullets available that would be suitable for shooting with paper patching? Commercially available round balls are .490 or ,495, but conicals all seem to be greater than .50.

Paper patched bullets normally were smooth sided..., at least from what I've read, and I think the rifling wasn't very deep so was more shallow than that for roundball. .
There is some good information in The Muzzle-Loading Cap Lock Rifle by Ned Roberts https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015060544213;view=1up;seq=7 Although the book is old the technology is even older so it probably has direct application today. The book is also illustrated.
You might look into taking a modern bullet and wrapping that.
How about wrapping a .476 Linebaugh bullet to fit your .50 ;) https://leeprecision.com/mold-dc-476-400-rf.html The mold is designed to be used with modern, lead alloy for bullets, but I think if you used straight lead it would only cast that bullet a tiny bit smaller...Like maybe .470, and the soft lead would obturate better with the paper patch.

Fiskar is now making large diameter paper punches {up to 2"+} in several designs including a + sign, a circle and a 4 lobe flower. I immediately thought of the paper patch guys. They looked perfect. Find them in the paper crafting section of craft and fabric stores.

You're welcome.
I don't know if you noticed that on the Bullshop website, they list a .50 caliber paper patched bullet with adjustable weight.
And AFAIK he custom sizes.
You can always shoot him an email and ask him what he can offer for paper patching a .50.
His email button is located on the "about" page:--->>> https://bullshop.weebly.com/about.html

Another company is Montana Custom Bullets.
For instance, they offer .50 S&W bullets but you would need to ask them if they will custom size to your spec.'s:--->>> https://www.montanabulletworks.com/
Or else you would need to size your own bullets.

I went to the bullshop web site with no luck. I will try again on Tuesday, after the holiday. I may try the bullets from https://www.buffaloarms.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?cat=24&category=All&q=.492+bullets first.
