just wondering why I see so little info/opinions of the Para Double Stack Hi-Cap .45's; are they not well liked? What are their drawbacks?
thanks

(sorry for the mess-up, computer can't spell) any feed-back on the Para .45 ?
thanks

Para's...

The P14-45 that I had a few years ago was a plain Jane model. It had that crappy finish that was somewhere between Parkerizing and Krylon, but mechanically it was a phenomenal gun. It never would have won a beauty contest, but man could that baby shoot. It definitely shot better than I could. At 50 feet I could get little clover leaf like clusters all day long.

So, you ask, if she was so great why did I get rid of her. Well, in the stupidity of youth, I wanted something that was pretty and shinny with every bell and whistle in the world on it. I traded plus some cash, *hangs head and mumbles* too much cash for a Colt Gold Cup, that I quickly renamed the Brown cup because it was a piece of…. Well any way. Foolish youth, yeah…

I can’t speak for them all, but my Para was a real shooter. I would buy her back in a heart beat.

Oh, yeah, it did bite me quite often, but that could have been fixed with a beavertail.

Does this model have the LDA trigger? That LDA is a love/hate type of thing, with a lot of people thinking it feels overly spongy...

I had a p13.45 for many years before I let her go... <big mistake I am still kicking myself for.>

This was before the LDA was introduced.

Function was flawless... never ever had any malf with any type of ammo.
It was a tack driver also. It made me look like I was a much better shooter than I really was...:D

Finish was basic, as mentioned earlier... but then again, being a 1911... it was still prettier than say a glock.

Para = good stuff to me.

i would say overall that i like para ord but the warthog was the only one i had for a long time but it was in need for some real good cleaning and ill say this when i finished cleaning it fired flawlessly i also have a para lda and now ill say its one of the best stock trigger pull around

I have had a Para Warthog since august and carry it every day I work simply because I haven't got tuckable holsters for my other guns yet. The finish is not the greatest thing ever. It shows more wear in 2 months than my glock did in 2 years, but I kinda like the way it looks now. I was supprised of the acuracy out of the 3" ( i belive it's 3 inch ) barrel. I haven't got a chance to shoot a full size yet but I bet just like the warthog it is more acurate than I am. All in all I love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything. She is my pride and joy. This being my first, I will definately look into Para next time I need a new toy.

I have one of the early 14.45 LDAs. For a time I hated it because I could not shoot it well. I made a commitment to master the LDA trigger and not get rid of the gun. It was worth the effort and now I enjoy the pistol and shoot it well. It is capable of great accuracy. I don't shoot it much lately because of the cost of ammo these days but it is ready for duty in case of post-hurricane or other emergency. Lots of people complain about Paras but mine is accurate, reliable, and well-built.

I have both a P-14 .45 and a P-16 .40 (non LDA). To reiterate what has been said, they are not showpieces, but mechanically are top notch. Reliability is 100% and accuracy is superb. I like them a lot. Also, don't let the size fool you. They are very little more trouble to CCW than a much smaller gun. Confidence builder with the big payload of major caliber fodder.
