I just picked up a Para LDA tac-5. I'll post a picture when I put it back togather. My question to my Para brothers and sisters : Is it fragile or will it go long term without failure like my faithful Colt Commander??
I have an old P12 LDA - the first year they made them. About two years after buying it (maybe 2000 rounds through it) the action began to not cycle correctly - trigger group problem, not slide related. Para fixed and shipped it back overnight and it has been flawless ever since.
I did, however, have the typical double stack magazine problems. I now use Franken mags that have a factory mag body, a different floorplate, and Wolf springs.
I had a CCW LDA. Commander slide and officers grip. It went 1000 rounds without any problem until a sold it in favor of a (surprise) Colt Commander. I wanted SAO.
I had a P13 with worn mag springs. I replaced them with Wolffs and it worked flawlessly after that for 400 or so rounds. Alas that one was sold as well to fund a Colt Trooper purchase.
I like Paras quite a bit and I recommend them based on my own experiences. It seems they have spotty quality though.
