Para Ordnance customer service stepped up and came to my rescue today, with such personal service, I am very impressed.

I currently own (3) Para Ordnances, but have purchased 7 in the past - as I have rotated to all alloy frames. I currently have a P-12.45, P-13.45 & a P-14.45 limited purchased in the mid/late 90's, that have not been quite 100% reliable, but are out of warranty. I have been seeking a good Para gunsmith recently. But I also wrote to Para Ordnance. Well, today I received an email from a senior person in the service department from Para, asking me to call him personally.

I talked with this senior person at Para service, and although these firearms are actually out of warranty, he offered to basically fix all of them - for free. He was very polite, generous and concerned about my satisfaction with the Para Ordnance line. They want happy customers, and he has made me one with his offer. He told me to send them all in, and they would make them right - at no cost to me. He assured me he would personally test fire each weapon to ensure they were completely reliable.

He said would personally follow up - and ensure I had reliable firearms when they were returned. He informed me I could call him at any point to check on the status, with any questions to ensure things were moving along at my satisfaction. I was very impressed.

Many of my my co-workers and friends have Para's (MANY Para's), and they all function flawlessly. I know many that are very happy and satisfied with their product. However my case wasn't exactly the same. It may take a little time and effort, but I am completely confident I will also be a happy Para owner also...

I will report back, but I am confident it will be nothing but positive!

    Thanks Para!

Considering they now have a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser, it seems he's honoring that for you. Good company. My wife has an PDA 9mm. Nice pistol.

I have always been a loyal Para fan myself and it is mostly because mine have never had issues of any kind. This is promising news for me to keep buying from Para.

Follow Up - Para Ordnance Serviced and Repaired Guns

(Just to follow up to my original post)

I was slow in sending my guns to Para for service, but I finally got it done. And they were very quick to service and ship them, as I received them in just over a week! At no cost to me.

    Services included:

    * Upgraded one recoil system & plug to updated version, new RC spring.
    * Adjusted extractors (I was willing to pay for the newer PXT extractor upgrade, but they said it was not necessary).
    * Polished & verified barrel, ramp and throat.
    * All bench checked for proper function.
    * All test fired by multiple people including head of Para service, with both HP's & FMJ's.
    * Adjusted ambi safety on P14

I have to say, I am impressed. Their customer service came through big time. They treated me very well, were professional, thourough and prompt.

Just for the record, the lifetime warranty started in 2001 (I assumed my pistols had a lifetime warranty, but I guess not. These firearms were purchased in the early/mid 90's).

They did same for mine However even after all their work was still unrelieable. I give a + for those in TN and their effort But - for a para . Traded for a New Colt and never looked back .

Para DOES have good cust service, but the ability of cust service to deliver a 100% reliable product is the problem I've had ... and from what I've read others have had the same problem. They made my P16.40 Limited LDA 100% with any ammo, but my P10.45 still has problems with 230gr loads.

Still I have no reservations giving them my business because conversations with them have been extremely friendly and they seem willing to do whatever it takes to make the customer happy.

I am sorry to hear of the problems with the Para's that have been serviced previously. My thought, FWIW, would be to contact them again and explain your situation. And give them another chance. One of mine was previously serviced, to no avail.

It would be my thought, they would like an opportunity to make them right for you.

Any auto-feeder can jam, period. I have read forums were somebody, somewhere, has had a problem with any make. None are exempt. Even with the so called flawless weapons...

My co-workers own many Para's, and they operate flawlessly. I guess you can't make a perfect auto-feeder 100% of the time. That said, I would still follow up with Para. I think they are dedicated to make good with their customers - and I believe they would be willing to do whatever it took to make them trouble free for you.

Please give them anthor try, and report back.

They all have the ability to run good, IMHO. Some might just need some tweaking (for lack of a better term).

I'm no gunsmith, so this is just a a complete guess. But they are made with such close tolerances, it seems that sometimes that has a negative effect. Not many can argue that that provides for an accurate gun though...

Best of luck, and report back please.

PS My situation was explained in the original post. Basic FTF problems, with the gun failing to go battery, a round stuck on the ramp.

Pics attached here of original failures prior to service for those that inquired (could not edit original post).

Just looking at the picture, it appears that maybe your extractor is/was too tight.

I had one experiance with Para's customer service and it was BAD, and led me to sell all of my Para's except for my alloy, P14-45, that EGW worked over.

It's possible that the problem was all from the "service" station I had to send my pistol to, but, long ago I was taught the old saying "screw me once--shame on you, but, screw me twice--shame on me"!

I've got a P14-45 limited just like yours and have never had a malfunction. Glad to hear they took care of you.

Well just to follw up - I was premature in my haste. I knew I should have waited for the final product testing prior to posting, but Derek at Para had sold me. Two mags fed, two FTF.

They say now I need a new barrel, that my barrel has been modified (the ramp is too steep). The gun has never been worked, why would anyone steepen the ramp anyways?

I've been transitioning to Sig P220's, and I'm dam glad. I'm done with this one, will have to sell cheap now. Too bad, it's a P-14 Limited w/ 3 hi-cap mags. But I insist on reliability...
