Para Ordnance P 18, 1911 parts compatibility

I was just wondering if the Para Ordnance P 18 is compatible with other 1911 parts. I want to put on a ambidextrous safety, maybe ream out a 9mm barrel with my 9x23 Manson reamer and get it firing 9x23 Winchester after I find an oversized barrel link.

There are 9x23 Winchester barrels out there for 1911s, my main concern is can I use one in the Para Ordnance P18 or is just too much onto itself to take another manufacturers barrel.

For one thing the Para barrels are ramped. Standard 1911 barrels aren't. Dunno about compatibility of links, etc.

Best buy a different pistol before you start that project. I don't think much of Para can be interchanged with 1911's with out a lot of work fitting.

They are easily converted and hold up quite well. I shoot(USPSA) with two people who have converted the P18 to 38 Super. They shoot in excess of 2K a month. No problems.

I was going to convert mine as well but checked and found I like the idea of just getting another barrel. Many places sell a Para/Clark barrel.
