I'm looking into possibly purchasing one of the three guns listed above. My local range doesn't have any of these available for testing.

I'd like input and feedback from those who have dealt with them with comparisons if possible.

I know the CZ is much cheaper, but is the price difference worth it? Do the Para and EMP offer more for the money?

I'm concerned with reliability, comfort of shooting, accuracy and overall feel of each.

Thanks

Of those three, I'd probably go with the CZ. While I have nothing but love for the 1911 platform, I'm not convinced that it is worth double the price. You might want to see how a regular 1911 feels to you. A full size one fits me like a glove (might even be a slight touch small for my huge mitts), and the EMP, being a 1911 platform washed in hot water and tumble dried, is WAY too small for me. The Para and CZ should fit larger hands better.

I don't have anything as small as the guns you are shopping, but my full size 1911 and my CZ P-01 are both very similar in terms of how they fit my hand.

In terms of accuracy, the trigger on the EMP and Warthog will be better, so I'd expect slightly better accuracy out of those for that reason alone, but I also would expect the CZ to have an edge in potential reliability out of the box; while you occasionally hear of 1911s with teething pains (especially the really short barreled ones), you never hear word one about a CZ that ain't right (of course, that could also be because of volume of sales for the platforms too).

Actually, apparently some of the .40S&W Rami's had some teething problems; however, the 9mm one (which I assume is being discussed here) was essentially problem free, or so I heard on the various CZ Fora.

I thought I wanted one of the one's listed.
Went to the local gun show to fondle.
Didn't like any and I mean any.
Too small. My hands aren't that big but wow, 2 fingers hanging in the air.

Yes, I'm only considering 9mm. At least right now.

I have small, but somewhat stocky hands with small fingers. I had two 1911s and while I really liked both guns, they weren't good for carry purposes and the .45 is a bit much for me. I'm very short, with a short torso so even my 4.25" S&W 1911 Sc proved to be a bit too uncomfortable for me. Damn beautiful gun though, and I am starting to feel some regrets about selling it.

Trigger is important as I have arthritis in my hands and finger strength is failing. This also goes for working controls (slide, mag release etc). Believe it or not of the few Kahrs I've handled, I had difficulty working all of them.

I do love the 1911 look and have no problem with cocked and locked. My current carry is a G26, which I truly love, but I'm getting that itch again.

To give you an idea of my hand size, I just purchased a Bersa Thunder 380 and with the flat plate mag (no extension), I can still get my whole hand on the grip. My G26 uses the pierce extension, which also gives me 2 more rounds, and it fits like a glove.

My para was:barf: Springer to expensive. Don't know about CZ
I would get a Colt Defender in 45 :)and be done looking Small slim and really not bad in recoil.

I handled a polymer RAMI and was unable to operate the safety levers. They are located too far forward for me and are too flat to the sides of the gun. Very disappointing. I did like the P01, save that the DA trigger reach is borderline excessive.

I have an EMP, and small hands, and it is very comfortable, with one caveat. If I shoot a lot, (which is not my intention for this gun, more of carry/SD, not a range blaster), the bottom of the mainspring housing starts to dig into my palm. Left a bruise the last time.

If it had a -- what do they call it-- an Ed Brown bobtail, it would be perfect.

In any case, it's still a great gun. I had some teething troubles, but it seems to have settled down.

EMP

I have an EMP and have large hands. The EMP looks sweet and is fun to shoot. I had some reliability issues with HP's and sent it back to SA. It is flawless now and I hear the current releases are very reliable. These little guns shoot real accurate every owner will tell you two things about the EMP. They are fun to shoot and are very accurate.

Of those three, I like the looks of the EMP best but not for the $. I have a Rami in .40 which I believe is basically the same gun as the 9mm and I think it is a great gun and gets great reviews. If your pinky and maybe ring finger hang off, you can get the extended mags for $37 I think.
