I have a Para SSP on layaway and the store today has a Sig P220 Elite LNIB for 725.00. I have three other Sigs, but do not own a 1911. The question for those who may have both or experience with both should I change the layaway to the Sig or leave the Para?

I would change to the P220 in a heartbeat

*edit* Used to own a Para 1911, couldn't get rid of it fast enough. Had a P220, loved it but it was a little too big for me, only sold it because I wanted a P228 instead

I have a Para P14-45 Limited and love it.

Of the two you're choosing from, the SIG is the better pistol IMO. but you have several sigs already... do you have a 226 or 220 already? If not, get the SIG. If I were going to get one 1911 type, it would probably not be a Para just based on their reputation. Like I said, though, my canadian P-O has had no issues, and everyone that shoots it wants to buy one.

i love my para gi expert, but i had a recent extractor prob, and para's cust serv completely sucked! they told me to order one off of brownell's!

"gold medallion" warranty my foot!

i'm keeping the gi expert, but will never buy another para, due to the lack of aftermarket support.

i would try to get them down on the SIG price a little, not bad though for $725.

Wow, they really told you to do that? I would have sent them a not so nice letter and sold the gun

^^^well at first they requested i ship the the entire gun to them, at my expense.

i told them all i needed was an extractor, as the one in my gi expert was malformed (too long), and was causing feeding issues. (confirmed by a local gunsmith)

i told the lady i would even send them the bad extractor if they wanted. most people report that para keeps their guns for 4 months or longer! so i didn't want to pay to ship it to them, especially when all i needed was an extractor!

she then told me to buy a new para extractor from brownell's.

i ended up getting a wilson bulletproof extractor from midwayusa and put it in.

i've dealt with s&w and springfield's cust serv before, and they would have shipped me out a new extractor without question!

the para gi expert is an extremely well fitted gun. the slide to frame, and barrel to slide fit are exceptional. especially considering the $500 price tag. great gun, just had an extractor that was cast too long. i'm going to keep it, but will not give para any more of my money.

Springfield made way better gun than Para! congrats on your great choice. I am about to get a springfield GI.
