I bought my first AR today. It was none of the ones I was looking at. I got a DPMS M4 A3. Now I assume that these rifles are very similar and that I didn’t get a turd. Doesn’t hurt that it came with 2 30 round magazines.Took it to the range for a quick test run to sight it in and like it a lot. So far so good.

I was looking at RRA, Bushmaster, Stag, S&W but I got this one and for the reason that it was $100 dollars less than any other. So the 100 bucks went to 500 rounds of blammo.

Welcome to the club, even though I'm a blued steel and walnut kind of guy I'm finding these darn black rifles multiplying.

DPMS is as good as any of them, I've got one DPMS lower, replaced the standard trigger with a JP, and I shot my DPMS 16" bull barrel upper for the first time Friday, really a good shooter.

I just bought a bushmaster A2 last week. I bought it for the bushmaster name over another DPMS flattop, which I slightly regret now that I want to mount optics on it. You did well.

Good job on your new DPMS. This is mine. I bought it for the exact same reason.

With an Ergo Grip and RRA's winter trigger guard. I'm contemplating going SBR with a gas-piston upper from POF-USA.

By the way, Nitrogen, either your AR and laptop are really tiny, or your cat is really big. :)

I was thinking the same thing. That's one heck of a tacti-cat. In fact, it might be about the size of my dog (Corgi, so it's not exactly a small dog). That thing might scare me more readily than the AR! :D

Eh, I'm all too familiar with over-analyzing purchase decisions. It may be a bit late for this, but here's an AR15 Brand Comparison Chart, courtesy of AR15.com. The same information is available with additional comments here.

Nitrogen: are they making the cats in olive drab yet? :D

I went through this malady when I wanted to buy my first BIG GAME rifle in 1997.
I chose a 1989 Remington 700 BDL-AS in 7mm Rem.Mag.
Still have the rifle and never regretted the choice.

SOON AFTER, all KINDS of guns appeared in the safe!

You made a good decision.
I hope you enjoy it thoroughly.
:)
