Does anybody have any experience with Para-Ord's new Power Extractor equipped 1911s. Do they live up to the hype? Para claims that they used a scored barrel to ensure jammed casings and the PXT either tore the casing in half or ripped a chunk out of the rim. When the barrel was replaced the gun functioned beautifully. Truth or hype, because if it's true it might be worth picking one up.

All I can say is that I have two Paras with the Power Extractor, and both have been functioning flawlessly for me. Of course, older extractor designs -- both internal and external -- can also work well.

I got a Para CCO early in the power extractor production and had it break into three peices after about 150 rounds.
Sent it back to Para and they had it fixed and returned in 4 days. No problem with anything since then and over a thousand rounds through it. I may have had a bad one since I've heard of no one else having a problem. I like it and trust it enough to carry.

Two of my Para's have the PXT extractor. I haven't had a single issue with either of them, other than issues related to aftermarket mags, with thousands of rounds downrange. I trust it enough that my Colonel is one of my principal carry pieces (sharing duty with my older C7/45LDA).
