I recently sold my Kel-tec sub2000 .40 caliber carbine. I had been using the gun as my around the house/property gun. I decided to replace it with a utility shotgun. Today I purchased a Pardner 20 guage single shot. The gun is marked New England firearms on the receiver but H&R on the buttplate. It has a modified choke. I have an H&R, that I believe is an M48 Topper that I inherited from my Paw-Paw when I was about seven years old. It has a full choke. I bought the new one because I wanted to add a sling to it and did not want to alter the old one anymore than it already has been. My Daddy cut the stock off about four inches on the old one when I was too small to handle it and later we super-glued it back on. It has never come loose and I still shoot it sometimes but I just wanted to preserve it as is. I bought an uncle mikes military swing for the new one and had the shop install a set of swivels while I was filling out the paperwork. I installed the new sling and am pleased with the way it functions and looks. My older gun has a case hardened finish on the receiver but the new one is just blued. I think that I will get a lot of use out of it, keeping the coyotes away from my cat, the squirrels away from my house, cottonmouth and copperhead eradication and various other uses as well as the occassional hunt. I sure like the way it feels. It is the standard model not the youth model and it looks and feels like quality just like the old one. I did notice that the forend is screwed on and on the old one it just kind of pops off if you pull on it hard enough. I would like to know the date of manufacture on the old one. Does anyone know how I could find this out.
