I just picked a PPP up last night and recall reading somewhere in this forum that it's a good idea to coat the metal surfaces with oil of some sort. I can't recall what was the best to coat it with and for how long.
First impression of the weapon is that if you run out of rounds, it'll make a fantastic club. Yeah, it's heavy.
I'm looking forward to stripping it and seeing what's inside.
Thanks in advance

They seem to have a pretty good dark phosphate finish. A good dose of light oil (RemOil etc) that will soak in and stay put seems to work well on them. A field strip and a good cleaning is in order an a new one, there may be a lot of packing grease (plus some metal filings) inside there that needs to come out. Don't forget to clean out the magazine tube also, but don't dislodge the shell latches from the inside of the receiver while you're at it. Might want to do the magazine tube work with the trigger plate assembly back in place in the receiver, since it will help anchor the shell latches. WD40 is a reasonably good degreaser and is pretty widely available, it shouldn't be used as a lubricant however.

I used Breakfree in the small bottle and wiped it on all of the exposed meteal. I do this from time to time and just wipe it in real well.

No rust has developed at all on my guns as a result utilizing Breakfree and I used it on all of my guns.

It seems to soak into the phosphate on my Pardners real well.:)
