Here is the new parody video by Alec Rawls. It completely changes the meaning of the original video, simply by adding a few voice-over comments to the original video. I thought this parody effectively communicated a strong pro-defense message. Length: a minute and a half:

Here is the original video, by "Moms Demand Action": anti-gun, anti-defense, pro sheep, pro helplessness, anti-sheepdog:

Parody?

I have to disagree with the term parody. by definition it means "an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect."
I feel This ad by Alec Rawls was excellent though, it stirred some very strong emotions wthin myself in relation to this particular subject.

"I have to disagree with the term parody." Okay. It does seem like the wrong word. I don't know the right word. I watched Alec Rawls' video first, before I watched the original (anti-gun) video. I thought Alec Rawls' video was powerful, and the imagery was just right. I thought: "this is a powerful message". Then I watched the original, and I thought: "you gotta be kidding me".

Definitely a much better version/message, but I'd hate to be him. I'm sure the lawyers are prepping to rip him apart as we speak.

Definitely show the two sides of the argument. However, only one side provides a practical solution. You can try to disarm society, but it is foolish to think that you will make evil go away when you do.

I like it, considering the original play on emotions commercial the anti crowd did, this puts a positive spin on it.

Thanks, OP!

Very well done... "parody" or whatever you want to call it.

Yeah... I was worried when i read the title "parody" and watched the original. Parody has a definite comedic implication and making fun of a moment of silence for child victims... That was not going to make me happy. But, the altered version does a pretty good job of presenting a different message without being disrespectful to the original idea of a moment of silence.

Parody is a term associated with the Fair Use policy on YouTube. You can take someone else's content and "Parody" it, but you cannot use someone else's content in a rebuttal.

More hypocrisy on parade!

Did no one else notice that those moms demanding action with "no more silence" have disabled both ratings AND comments at their video?

No more silence indeed... :scrutiny:

Yes, the word 'parody' does have the comedic implication, and that is problematic for this material. I think the best word might be 'rebuttal' (as suggested by theotherwaldo).

I noticed that Alec Rawls uploaded this rebuttal video to his youtube channel not once, but twice. I'm not sure if that was a mistake of some kind. It turns out that one of the two uploads, the one that I linked to, currently has 1,426 views and 4 comments, but the other upload (of the same rebuttal video) is the one getting all the views: currently over 20,000 views, and 43 comments:

Nice! Thanks for sharing.

I just thought about the name "Moms Demand Action", and thought, as long as it isn't them having to take the action.

The actress at the end has the "Deer in the headlights" look down better than any deer I've ever seen in my headlights. She'd make Bambi proud. But Bambi was a boy and I'm pretty sure he'd defend his fawns.

Ha. Yeah. They adopted their current name after having been advised that their original name, which I believe was "One Million Moms Demand Gun Control," sounded too anti-gun and extreme.

It seems like each and every day that I spend on this earth, I encounter at least one person who sincerely believes that I'm stupid.
