I've checked Lee, I've checked Midway, I've checked google.

Dunno if any of you have disassembled one of these cool little gizmos but basically I need the square-bottomed, U-shaped wire spring in the lower squareish unit, that looks like an AT-AT walker. ;)

The spring in mine has lost its spring after 20K or so repetitions, and no longer has enough power to force the interior slider back to pick up another primer. It works fine but I have to press back on it after each press forward which kinda throws off the rhythm. I've disassembled and cleaned all surfaces with alcohol, and tried bending that leg of the spring in the right direction to give it some more power, but I guess it's just done.

I'd be happy to get a complete lower square thingy assembly or just the spring. I can't find parts for these available, particularly because they go for $25 for the whole thing, including the large and small assemblies and trays.

Did you call or write Lee? they have always been good about replacing parts, most of the time for free on small things like that.

I have done it. I called LEE they do not sell or offer the primer trigger units by themselves. They will send you the inside springs. Seems simple but I give my Wife, the Arts and Crafts, slender finger, and Puzzle expert of the World the job!!:)

No way did have the patience and with my stubby fingers I could not get it back together, I knew how so I guided her. It's a real PITA but can be done. She put it together and I screwed it together.

Call LEE, 2 little springs. It is the U shape one that goes bad, but I replaced both. It works! Actually I e mailed them, to hard to get on the phone and explain to the nice lady

E Mail from Lee:

There are two springs inside the Trigger Assembly, one is a U Shaped Return Spring, which normally wears or breaks as it is a thin wire and the other is called a Plunger Spring, which doesn't really wear or break. If you would like, I can send you a new Return Spring to see if that will solve the problem.

Thank You,

Laine

I think you can submit a ticket right from their website. Describe the problem, take a picture of the bad spring, attach it to the support ticket and a few days later chances are the new part will be in your mailbox.

I killed my first one a few months ago.

Lee will send you a new one.

If you have the full set- small and large primers- you can borrow the U spring from the other until you get the replacement. Thats what I did.

Thanks, I contacted Lee. You'd think they'd just offer them on their site. But their site is kind of a baffling ordeal, so it's probably better to just call/email anyway. :)

I've loaded 400 9mm rounds since it stopped "springing" so it's not a huge deal, just a minor annoyance.

Mine also did this after a few thousand repetitions. I had no idea they offered parts for these, I just reset it manually every time.

Good read!

Ha! For a second I thought you were talking about your wife given your first sentence and the previous posts.
Gave me a bit of a chuckle.

BTW Lee replied to my email the next day and are sending me a couple spring no charge. Great customer service!

The parts for the Safety Prime aren't available for sale because we have this item assembled off site so do not have a large quantity of replacement parts here for it. We can send you a couple U Shaped Return Springs though for your Safety Prime at no charge.
