I also posted this elsewhere, but some of you Highroad ol' timers might know better! ;)

So I have had this Garand for at least a couple of years now and I was curious as to what parts it is made from.

Obviously the barrel is a new Springfield Armory, Inc. and the receiver is a casting made by Lithgow. But what about everything else.

I took it apart and there are numbers and manufacturer names on all the parts. Most are "sa." Does SA, Inc. mark the parts like the originals were?

My bolt is marked: "D28287-12SA RE6B"
Hammer: "C46008-1W.R.A" Woohoo, Winchester?
Trigger housing: "D28290-14 SA"
Op rod: "D35382 9 SA"

Also, the trigger itself has a "6" on it, sorta hidden. The bottom of the trigger guard is marked "F."
So do I have all GI parts or is Springfield machining those numbers in their new cast parts?

I noticed, while I had it completely torn down, that the op rod has a bunch of light pitting up at the very end underneath the new parkerizing. My uneducated guess is that it is in fact a GI op rod, that had been lightly pitted by corrosive ammo in it's past life before being blasted and reparked by SA, Inc. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Your bolt, hammer, trigger housing, and op rod are all USGI. SA is Springfield Armory and W.R.A. is Winchester. You are probably right that you have a refinished op rod. USGI triggers had different numbers cast into them, I don't know if anyone knows exactly what they mean. Never heard of an "F" is on a trigger guard.
