Anyone using a Past shield, specifically the "field shield"? Do they work?

Im thinking of using one in conjunction with a limbsaver recoil pad on a 20 gauge pump I just bought. I have a old shoulder injury that id like to avoid having flare up again so im looking to make recoil as mild as possible.

Been shooting a single shot 410 will no ill effect, but now im ready to try moving up to a 20.

They are a little thick compared to others. It might affect mounting for sporting clays or hunting. I also have a thin Bob Allen one from Wally world that was really a suprise how well it works. The ones with the gel packs work good also. I think Browning has a system vest that taks the gel pads. Limbsaver has a recoild shield that I would imagine would be out of this world if its anything like their buttpads.

You might find that a really good recoil pad like Kickeez, Limbsaver, etc. might be easier to handle - the PAST shield will require changing your LOP if your current 20 fits. The recoil pad won't require you putting it on and off. Any of the new materials really do a good job. If you combine a good pad with proper fit, a gas-operated semi and light target loads, it should go a long way to mitigating any recoil

Its a mossy 500 with a factory 14" LOP which is a little short for me anyway. Ive added a slip on limbsaver (size small/medium) which brings the LOP to 14-5/8". I figure the past "field" shield which is only 1/4 in. thick would bring total LOP to just under 15" which should work well for me.

Midway has them on sale now for $19.99 so ill probably pick one up.

Short stocks can make recoil feel more potent, as can using field loads or heavy loads. A pump is also light to begin with, so that just exacerbates the issue
