Not to many years ago all I had to do was go get the little blue card that the DMV provided. Fill it out with new address, sign it , stick it to the back of my DL I was good to go for purchasing firearms. Wisconsin

When you update online they do not issue a new card, as the address update is tied to the lic no. You can request a new card however

NY you can get a sticker from the DMV, it's an official form you put on the back of your license and write your new address on. It's as valid as a license.
