Pay it Forward in Reloading

Yup. Good to know there's people out who got each other's backs. :)
I took a brass inventory a couple months ago and found I have more than I can use of some things in my remaining lifetime; other things I'm kind of short - but only because I already loaded it and never got around to shooting it. Thought I was completely out of 7.62x54R but it turns out I've got about 500 Norma new brass - loaded with 4064 and 180gr. soft points.
Maybe you need to work harder to wear out some brass.... bla ha ha ha. Shoot a levergun with a sausage chamber to reduce your inventory, it's my brass reduction program. ;)

Sounds like you need to empty some of those so you have something to reload!
Yeah, that was my late 2010's deer stand load. I've got a M38 I spent some time - and a little but not much money - on getting it to shoot minute-of-white-tail at 100yds. The bullets are Sierra #2310 180gr. JSP I used for 7.65Arg and .303Brit in previous years. Pretty much the same load, +/- a grain of powder. It's a meat-getter but not real fun to pull the trigger on. I ran the ladder all the way up to 47.5gr. and started shooting buckshot patterns so I backed off to below start and am still getting 2100fps and 3" groups at 100 yards on a bad day. 2-15/16th" groups on a good day! ;)

I've got some 173gr. FMJ pull-downs that would probably be great for the range but I just don't like burning 40 or so grains of IMR 4064 every trigger pull. Not until supply comes back a little more steady. And, I'm not sure I can get those Sierra's anymore. These shortages put a real damper on the hobby.

.
Heh. 2100 at the muzzle or at the target? Pretty brave if you set up your chrono at 100 yards!

Down to what velocity do you expect to get expansion with those bullets? Just curious.

Pretty sure that's just an output of a ballistic program. Unless he has a labradar but those are a little spendy.

I typically set the Chrony up at about 3yds. I get some expansion but that’s not really a problem. It’s one of those bullets that pushes right through and isn’t bothered by bones. Our little white tails aren’t really that tough. Some folks actually hunt them with .22WMR. It’s not legal but it works.

A $75 Chrony F1. It’s close enough for tree stand work. I’m not really going for a Creedmore Match score.

I was referring to the posted velocity @100 yards. Those are mostly just calculations....
Buck must have missed that your assertion was accuracy not speed @100
Oh. Well, in my case, accuracy is always a relative. And you know what they say about relatives. ;)
I really don’t shoot that Mosin much anymore. Don’t think I have since at least a couple years before the plandemic. Made it too light.

I'm sure it works fine at close range. I used to listen to a podcast by a guy who said he killed a black bear in his animal pen with a .22 WMR.

Some folks just got no class. :(
I know a few. Don't associate with them but I know them. Frankly I've met better people off discussion boards than at work or church. Met worse too but, you get that.

People win the lottery, but I'm not taking those odds on survival. I would not shoot a griz with anything less than a legit magnum. That's just respect for the power and capability of my opponent.

Ok, I got one for someone in the Phoenix Metro area or at least willing to drive to East Loop of the 202 & Superstition freeway:

1 Frankfort Arsenal wet/dry rolling tumbler with 5 lbs. stainless steel pins. Used 1 time. I do not deliver and you will have to meet me near said intersection to pick it up. It will cost you 1 beer at a nearby bar (to be disclosed at a later date :D).

ETA: This thing works fine and as advertised. But way too tedious for me. I can live with carbon inside the case and cleaning primer pockets the old fashioned way. Fiddling around with those tiny SS pins and the mess just isn't my idea of fun. Ugh! :barf:

I'm not interested in the tumbler, my dry tumbler does ok for me (though that is a nice "pay it forward") but I am curious if you frequent the Rio Salado Sportsmans Club, you seem to be right in my neck of the woods (so to speak).

Yes, Phil. I am a member and try to frequent the main range regularly. I'm about 10 minutes from there.

I just Walnut tumbled 10mm brass with extra Car Wax! shinny and beautiful

I know I owe some packages but I can’t get them out. The post office has been closed every time I go. There has been a sign on the window that there are shortages and that they may not be able to open. This has been the same at 2 different rural locations and the locations in the 2 larger towns I go through regularly for work are so busy that I can’t get my delivery truck in the lot as it takes up 4 parking spots.

All in good time brother. I'm not on the list but this is all a good gesture so I will say for all of us, good things come to those that are humble!!!!
