Pay it Forward in Reloading

Ok, lets see if we can get to 25k views, shall we ?

I have three last PIF's to give away this year.

I have one for a 45 Auto shooter, one for a 44 Remington Magnum shooter, and one for a 45 colt/454 Casull shooter.

Of course, there's a catch............

Well, two actually.

#1 : You gotta be a new reloader. One reloading press owned maximum.

#2 : You gotta post your story here about one situation, or one person, thats helped you here at THR, and how that/them kept you coming back.

I want tears, dangit ! Real soupy stuff !

Best story in each category, judged by BDS and Walkalong ( this is all unbeknownst to them- they'll both hear about it right here first... so don't go blowin up their PM boxes ! ) Gets the goods. Trust me, if you are a new reloader in need, in these categories, you'll be happy you shared.

Ship date will be may 4th- gives all of us folks who can't type real good time to belt out that opus of what being part of the community means to ya..........

Toodles.

blarby, thanks but I don't know ... my wife says I am a poor judge of character ...:D

Might I suggest that we do a "polled thread" that's linked to this thread and whoever gets the most popular vote gets the goodies? That way Walkalong and I can't be blamed if we choose the "wrong" story! :D

Paying forward an assortment of 9mm bullets to Rule3 - ETA 4/22 - 4/23.

If anyone is feeling generous i am in needs of some advice and 30-06 brass. Will pay postage/handling fees. I'm newly into reloading as of last week. :)

Works for me. :)

I only have a couple things I'd like to have and they're not likely to be just laying around, but everybody keep posting what you can't find and really need. There's lots of hits on this thread. Kudos to the OP, great idea!
What are you looking for? I have a box of range brass with various bits and pieces in it I've been saving for exactly this purpose. It may only be 2 or 3 pieces of any given caliber but it might be what you're looking for. Would be happy to send it.

I know there is some 45LC, maybe 357Sig, 7.62x39, and 32ACP in there, but again only a few pieces of each. I usually try to tumble, decap, and clean the pockets before I send it unless you prefer it otherwise. Decapping is done with a pin / base so no extra wear on the brass.

Mic, I might be able to part with 20-25 HXP cases. They are tumbled, decapped, and I'll make sure the primer pocket is reamed. They should already be, but I ended up having a lot of resistance priming one the other night because I missed one. Someone was generous enough to send me several not too long ago.

That's awesome blarby.

I have brass in a box and labeled ready to go, I still need to cast a few bullets and get them sized, but they will be out early next week.

The 255 bullets are coming out at 62.5 grains with lube and gas check. I will be a little slower at those as I have to pan lube them, but so far with the minimum charge of H-335 they are shooting well for me in my M&P 15 so I am very optimistic about them for now. If you need a few bullets to get you going or just want to try cast in your AR let me know and I will help you out.

I also have other cast bullets, the 9 mills I think are going to size out at .358 so they might be ok for some of you .38 or .357 shooters.

Again I also have some 44 cal bullets, 270 RNFP with G/C and a 240 grain SWC. 230 grain .452 RNFP and 400 grain .460 RNFP with G/C. I don't want to be your next bullet supplier but I am willing to help out a few folks who are having a hard time getting some lead to send down range.

I have been given a lot already by members of this forum including brass bullets molds and loads of free advise that was actually worth getting. So I don't mind helping out and giving back a little.

Ok, fair enough walkalong and BDS.

What might be the best way to do it? I can't exactly make a poll on submissions I don't have !

blarby, that's easy.

Start a new polled thread titled "Poll #1 for Pay Forward thread" and choose 10 poll options #1, #2, #3, etc. (numbers only for poll questions).

Have THR members submit their stories that are incrementally numbered posts and we all vote by number. So first poster will go "This is submission #1 and my story is ... etc.).

Whichever numbered post with the highest poll votes/results by the closing date (say 1-2 weeks) gets the "PIF goodies".

Once voting is closed, Walkalong/moderator can close the thread or leave it open for further discussion/comments and you can open "Poll #2 for Pay Forward thread", etc.

Tada! :D

Give posters a set time to post stories. It needs a cut off date/time. Then another set time/date on closing the voting.

Ok, sounds good to me.

We'll collect stories till may 1st, vote from may 2nd to may 5th ( so we get all of the weekend folks ) And I'll ship on may 6th.

If we get all of the stories here, I'll format them into a poll thread on the evening of the 2nd.

That way the poll thread, we can just pick comment number's 593, 614, etc. I don't want to dilute the thread too much by siphoning off the good will and constant eyes onto multiple threads.

Sound good ?

Until then- KEEP P'nIF !

mic_detonator... Shoot me a PM with your address. I am rich in .30-06 brass and I'll send you some.

44-40 Win Brass

I have been reading this thread all morning and it has inspired me to participate. I have a box (50 count) of 44-40 Winchester brass (once fired). If you want 'em let me know, all I need is a mailing address. I am sure I can look around and find some other stuff, will post it later after I find it.

Update: .44-40 brass is spoken for.

Well as luck would have it I came acrosss another box or so worth of 243 brass, I already sent some out to one member and if no one else needs any I am going to send these out to him as well. Its not much but every little bit helps.

I still have plenty of home cast bullets I can send out. to some one who needs some.

If interested in any of the brass or bullets I have offered up please send me an email as well as a PM

Grubbylabs- thats the spirit !

It appears there isn't much appetite for............storytelling......... so I guess that avenue of spicing up the thread can be put to rest.

I'll just put these last bits up for grabs, as the last of my casting for the year :

100ct 300gr RFP bullets with gascheck in .452
100ct 230gr LRN bullets in .452 (plain flat base- these are the ones I use)
100ct 215gr Hollowpoint Gas Checked Bullets in .430's ( these are my FAVORITE bullet now in 44 mag )

They wont be able to go out until the first of the month once I have some more funds- but they are there for the taking.

I'll take these - PM sent

I have 181 pieces of .38 Super (3 mildly corroded). I also have a set of .30 Carbine steel dies. The locking ring on the resizer is seized but it still works - you just can't tighten it down.

ETA: Case trimmer is gone.

I could use those 30 carbine dies if still available. PM incoming.

Grubbylabs,
'Again I also have some 44 cal bullets, 270 RNFP with G/C and a 240 grain SWC'

If available, I'd take them.
