I have been thinking ( I know, I know, dangerous!). I want to do something to help start people into reloading. I know there are many on this board who, like me, have reloading and casting shops that really, could be used to run a boutique ammunition concern. In other words, many here have more equipment than they will ever need, much of it sitting unused one end of the year to the next. I wonder if there is some way we can donate items to folks just getting started by organizing a kind of "good will" program on this forum. If we could maybe get a forum dedicated to requests from new shooters for equipment, folks like me could read the posts and individually contact whom ever they want and offer them items just for the cost of shipping. I often give equipment to new shooters at my home range simply because I don't know of a better way to ensure that they can stay in the sport. It was done for me when I was younger and it just makes my day to help another shooter get addicted to this madness! Am I out in left field or do others feel this might be a useful thing to do?

There used to be a pay it forward in the trading post. I am sure a mod can fire it back up.

I'd love to learn reload as well, but I have had nothing but trouble finding powder and brass. I've saved a few hundred of mine but that's all.

In my area I try to get the interested to learn to reload by mentoring them on the aspects of it stressing safety most of all then common sense. All that I have worked with so far have become competent reloaders. I will help anyone that is willing to put forth the effort to do it safely. I will second the idea of a pay it forward thread. The cost of and availibility issues are the biggest hurdles to reloading in recent memory. In the future it may come down to those that reload will be able to shoot and those that don't will only have expensive clubs.

There still is a pay it forward thread, in the For sale/Trade accessories section.
