My honey for my birthday....Gave me a new Chambersburg Penns 45 cal long rifle. Walnut stock, brass patch box, inlaid up the stock and double set triggers.
I have a lot BP guns, My first new one, my traditions was new. I got rid of it cause the lock and set triggers. I even got another lock from traditions.
I had at the range to sight it in. Shot best at 40gr. and .120 patch. Very good groups. My other Pedersoli 45 Kentucky long rifle. shoots best with 50 gr. and the same patch. Both at bench rest. What makes the difference? Both the same cal 440 and made by Pedersoli. The Kentucky I bought used.

What's the difference? Why, the barrel. Each barrel is unique and the user must find the best combination of ball diameter, patch thickness and powder charge for that particular barrel.

Ok I understand. But the barrels are both the same as far as how long. 15 gr.
is a big difference. Then the Kentucky is a lot older, too. The Muzzle Loading Cap Lock Rifle which is a book. Said about the same thing. But never nailed down why.
Thankyou

I maybe wrong, but are you sure Pedersoi makes Traditions
? I doubt it.Anyways I was lookin at the Pedersoli Kentucky's and was wondering how do you like it ?.........or maybe I misread your post ?

Ratgunner.
The first new rifle was a Traditions, it was very s*%#ty rifle. I keep having problems with the lock. I finnaly trade it for a used Pedersoli Kentucky long rifle and a few bucks. At a Rondy last summer. It is a great shooter and I love it. The rest of my rifles have all been used. TC54, CVA 12 SXS and a Charles Daley 50. They are all used but good rifles. My wife shoots CD 50 at our club and Rondys. I was looking at Cherry's fine guns page. I saw a Chambersburg Penns 45 long rifle and showed it to her. I said I would sure like that rifle. Then she got it for me for my B-day. They are very fine rifles and only weight 8 pounds. She is going to use the Kentucky now. So if you are planning on buying a long rifle. Spend a few dollars more and get a pedersoli.
I use a TC 45 Patriot pistol for are shoots. That is a fine pistol.
They are very very fine rifles.
Buy it and happy shooting.
