What are you looking to shoot, Long Range or Silhouette? For Silhouette the 45-70 is fine but it may not excel at Long Range. 45-90 seems to be the favorite LR round... or was. My mom's not boyfriend, long story, is a long time Silhouette shooter. He is talking about teaching me to shoot Silhouette come spring. Should be a good time.
I want one of these:

Shiloh Sharps Sporter #3 in 45-70 or 90 with the heavy octagon barrel, the regular heavy not the bull. Nice Long range sights, like yours, would be great too.

I own a padersolie 20 ga. side by side. the work they did was of good quality. they sent me a video of there sharps and I was impressed with the groups they shot.
