Cn anyone tell me what a decent triggerpull (lbs) for a Pedersoli Sharps 45-70 (cartrige bullet). I have a new" Billy Dixon" model. I can't reem to get the front trigger heavier than 1.5 lbs Using the rear set trigger Too light for me.
Does anyone know a contact # for Pedersoli in America,or "Armi" or Chippawa" ? or anyone who could help me out with this situation ?Thanks! and Merry Christmas! John

Below is the authorized service center for Pedersoli.
One question is have you contacted the outfit that sold you the gun?
Maybe they have a gunsmith that will handle any warranty work on their own, or they will ship the gun out to repair for you, or replace the gun with another if defective.
Has the gun been fired?
Contacting Pedersoli directly by email might provide information about the trigger specifications for your gun.

the whole concept of a set trigger is that the rear trigger is pressed only when you have the rifle rested on cross sticks, or across saddle bags [or sand bags at the range from a bench], are comfortable, have already pulled the front trigger [which ideally is 8-10 lbs, and is used somewhat like a safety on a modern rifle] and then, and only then do you touch of the shot with your super light [''a breeze through the trigger guard could set it off''] set trigger. It's a set up for super accurate long range shooting such as a bench rest shooter or buffalo hunter might use. it takes some getting used to. my dad's Hawken is set up that way, and has been since before I inherited it. My paper cutter Sharps has a single trigger, and I prefer it over the set trigger set-up, but I can use either one, the way it was meant to be used. Obviously, it's your rifle, you can get a single trigger set up for it from VTI Gunparts, if you don't like set triggers, but there's a reason they are set up that way. The reason is gnat's butt accuracy.

What BHP said, I've got a Sharps/Shiloh in 45/70 with the double set trigger, and that set trigger doesn't take that much of an effort to set off the charge, I believe right at 1.5#s or less. However that thing is accurate to 500yards with the Creedmore sights on it, even though my eyes aint what they used to was.:D

A set trigger should be light enough to fire when you just think "fire" IMHO.
That si the way I set my two Hawkens.
I like very light trigger pull on my single actions also.
One I got from a gunsmith who shot crows with it is quite light, but a tack driver. I have to worn any one I let shoot it "put that sight on the target before you touch the trigger"
It is hard for me to shoot double action or semi autos, it is just too much trigger pull.
