Peep sights for an SKS

I have the tech sights. The main benefit is the much longer sight radius. It is much easier to shoot accurately, for me at least. I like them a lot.

Not worth it.
Totally worth it, if you like peep sights in the first place.
I'll take a rugged peep over a crappy scope mount on an SKS any day, I don't want it to be a sniper rifle, and putting glass on the (non-fixed) receiver cover or some bolted-on monstrosity won't make it one.

I had the Mojo's....

Peeps are made to work when they are close enough to 'look through and not see' them.

The others...

I don't recall the exact details, but There's some issue with the way they are held on, and that being the takedown pin to disasemble the rifle for cleaning...

I LIKE Peeps on AR's, FAL's, and ESPECIALLY M1A's and M1's etc....

Not worth it on the SKS due to the above...

Funny, Everybody 'complains' (See mods, I'm working on it) about the sites on the SKS/AK

But never the 30-30 or Mauser....

I love the tech-sight on my SKS. I regularly shoot clays off the my ranges backstop at 120 yards with them installed. IMOO it is one of the cheapest ways to increase accuracy in an SKS.

Yes, you do have to remove the sight to clean the bolt but I normally I just run a bore snake through my barrel and squirt the gas tube with brake cleaner after every range trip so cleaning is really not a big deal. I fully disassemble the rifle for a thorough cleaning after every 1000 rounds or so;) Each time I have replaced the tech-sight and it has stayed zeroed.

How do the peep sights that go on the rear sight (not the dust cover type) perform? Does one also need to replace the front sight pin? Thanks!

I do exactly what wnycollector does. I hose it out with brake cleaner or gunscrubber, wait for it to dry, and then oil it up.

I got the tech sight, and added the thinner front sight post as well. BIG difference. I also have mine in the Tapco compliance kit, I can't say it makes much difference for accuracy, but it feels better. Next steps are to get the Tapco bolt that allows you to switch mags with the bolt forward, and a Kivaari trigger. And probably ACU pattern Duracoat.

The Tech Sights are the best single mod you can do for your SKS if you ask me. They give you a great sight radius, a quick-pointing aperture sight, and are click adjustable for windage and elevation. My friend has them on his SKS, and I have them on my AK. Talk about night and day difference when it comes to the kind of accuracy you are capable of getting out of these rifles after you put some decent sights on them.
