Just back from the gunshow with the abovementioned light in tow.

First impressions are very favorable. With the same approximate legth and diameter of my Surefire 6P, the light is handy and well-balanced. Construction seems to be top quality, like you would expect.

Of course, the light output is the first thing to be questioned by prospective buyers. Let me say, point blank, that this is one very bright light. I would even go so far as to say that it's every bit as servicable as a defensive "blinding" light as the SF 6P. I was able to illuminate the inside of my shandy from a full 30yds and had no problems clearing my house when I got back home, this evening.

Compared to the 6P equipped with the LED head, there is no comparison. The SF 6P so modified is longer and has a thicker bezel that, while cool in appearance, precludes the use of most non-specific carriers. The Pelican M6 LED is small and streamlined.

Best of all, the Pelican comes with a click-on tailcap switch that makes the activation very easy for us that are not hispeed/lodrag operators. I can see how this feature might be a bad idea for specops types, but I'm not one and find it rather handy.

I would also note that the Pelican is roughly $30 cheaper than a similar SF light and comes with a belt scabbard and two C123 lithium batteries. Surefire doesn't offer any such package, making this one sweet deal.

If you get the chance, pick one up. I'll report back in a bit once I have more time and experience with this baby. Til then.

I've had mine fr a couple of months now, and I really lke it. It's very bright for an LED light and the battery life seems really good so far. My only gripe is that it is a little big for EDC in my pants pocket (although it's great in a jacket pocket). Great price too.

Sprout, if you want to make your light even more fun, add a surefire lanyard ring to it (though with a keyring not a wrist thong). Talk about handy! With this clipped on to my belt, it dangles just low enough to hang in the front pocket without taking up a lot of space or getting twisted around in there.

Another note: The Surefire Constant On tailcap for their 6P works well on the M6 LED and has a more positive actuation stroke so you can do reliable momentary flashes without accidentally clicking full on.

I have my light fully customized!:D
