I'm trying to find the best bang for the buck in electronic hearing protection. I can get decent push-to-listen muffs for about $25, but what I'd really like are some comfortable stereo ones that stay on and hopefully had an auto-shutoff.

The Peltor's I've been looking at are:

Peltor Tactical 6, $70, -19dB, 4xAAA, 200 hrs, no auto-shutoff, lighter weight
Peltor Tactical 7, $130, -24dB, 1x9V, 80 hrs, no auto-shutoff, heavier
Peltor SportTac, $100, -20dB, 2xAAA, 500 hrs, auto-shutoff, lighter weight
Peltor TacticalPro, $180, -25dB, 2xAA, 270 hrs, auto-shutoff, heavier

The 6s have a huge number of complaints of the left side breaking. Everybody seems to absolutely love the 7s but they look like a really old design and have no auto-shutoff. The TacticalPros are everything I'd want, but if the SportTacs are any good I'd much rather save the $80 and get the lighter ones.

If anybody actually has the SportTacs, I'd just like your general opinion. Are they good enough to wear without earplugs at your average indoor range? Do they fit as well as the bigger ones when you're wearing glasses?
