....however, I would say that this is one of the few if only cases I can ever remember hearing. So if permit to carry holders are getting into shootouts over accidents it is most likely a miniscule amount if almost any at all. Not the sky is falling like anti-gunners said.

We'll see what happens here, the CCW holder is claiming self defense but is currently in jail for the shooting.

Witness to a killing: Rochester teen said 'I dare you,' and fellow motorist pulled trigger

The suspect, who has a permit to carry a firearm, is in jail. Police say he's claiming self-defense.

A teenage motorist involved in a minor collision at a Rochester intersection saw the other driver had a gun drawn and dared the man to shoot him, and that’s exactly what happened, according to a friend who was in the teen’s car.

The shooting of Muhammed Rahim, 17, of Rochester, occurred about 8:20 a.m. Sunday at East River Road and 31st Street NE. A 25-year-old Rochester man with a permit to carry a firearm was arrested and remains jailed on suspicion of second-degree murder. The man, who has yet to be charged, told police that he was acting in self-defense.

I'm not sure how good of witnesses the suspects friend's are as they are his friends. Tragic either way. But if it is true self-defense, one vs. 4 guys could have been bad, even 1 on 1 can be bad. Sounds like his friend's said that their friend confronted the CCW holder and then dared him to shoot him according to them. If their friend did aggressively confront the other driver that may corroborate his story of self-defense.

Yes one incident doesn’t make a trend. And as most of us here know conceal carry holders commit less crimes than any other group. That does not mean there aren’t a few bad apples in our group. Using a case like this is like saying judges shouldn’t drive because some have been convicted of drunk driving.

Now that said, if I had a dollar every time Tim Kaine and his buddies backed by Bloomberg screamed lies about gun LEGAL gun owners I’d be very rich.

Before I read it I wondered if this was a story of a car incursion victim be harassed by the enraged driver and pulling to defend himself. That's not the same as the typical road rage instigator continuing to escalate the situation with a gun.

Instead, the article states that the cc holder was forced to evasive action by the erratic driving of the group of 4 youths. The youths' car went into the ditch. The youths backed out of the ditch and then hit the car of the cc holder. Then both parties got out and heated words were exchanged. Then the confrontation escalated further and the cc holder, fearing for his life, displayed the gun, was taunted further, and then fired defensively.

The reality seems a far cry from the way the newspaper headline was written and what it implied.

We're going to need a lot more information that isn't going to be available anytime soon for a worthwhile discussion on this here.
