Anyone use .45 Perfecta?

Does it seem like its loaded hot to you?

Normally, I love running my full size 1911, usually going through a couple hundred rounds before I am done.

Today, I shot Perfecta from Wally-World, its pretty damn cheap for brass, even has large primer pockets.

However, my hand hurt after only 30 rounds, I didn't want to shoot it anymore and that's not like me at all. :what: (Well, I did want to shoot it but my hand literally hurts where the beaver tail contacts my hand.)

Anyone know if they load it hot? Perhaps they seat their bullets deeper, or setback during shipping..?

I wish I had a Chrono but all I can go by is what my hand is telling me.

I ran through a box a few weeks ago in a 1917. Didnt seem out of the ordinary.

The only thing I've noticed about perfecta is inconsistency from box to box, or even around to round, at least in 9mm. You may get some that feels close to NATO or +P loading and some that's very very soft shooting. Just food for thought there.

I've also occasionally noticed a little fluctuation in the loading, but nothing that concerned me enough to steer clear of it. I've fired several boxes in 9mm and .45, one box of .223, and just recently, part of a box of .357, and it's all been fine. In fact, i've been trying to find more of the 357, but the counter guys i know from a couple local Walmarts tell me it gets scarfed up quick.

I have used it in .38, .357, and 9mm, when short of reloads. I have found it to be fairy consistent and about mid range in power.

Listen to thy hand switch to Glock 21 and the problem will go away. I noticed that among empty spots in ammo cabinet at Walmart besides .22lr is that designated for .45ACP Perfecta ammo. That indicates that the product must be pretty good.

I did; I sold off the Glock 21 a long time ago, didn't like it.

These .45 are hot.

Got a buddy to lend me his Chrono and they are averaging 974.1.

Thats +P for a 230 grain bullet.

Got a box+ from an estate sale.

For what it's worth, the ejection was erratic. The casings flew willy-nilly.

All fed, fired, extracted and ejected but I noted while others were shooting that the cases were all over the place compared to other ammo being shot.

We were shooting iron targets so I can't really speak to accuracy in comparison to any of the other rounds fired.

But really, I've never found much to fault Fiocchi ammo for.

Todd.

There is no way shipping is causing setback, not from vibration and stacking boxes anyway.

Measure some cartridges and see is they are seated too deeply, but I doubt that is the case.

My guess is it's phycological, in that since this ammo is new to you, you distrust it and are paying closer attention. The extra scrutiny is making you notice this.

FWIW, my Glock 30s and 41 both shoot softer (perceived) than my Springfield Loaded full-size. Admittedly, my muscle memory and mechanics are accustomed to the Glocks because I carry and shoot them more frequently.

Yes, I tend to buy whatever is cheapest at Wal-Mart for range fodder; I've used a lot of this stuff.

Nope. Haven't noticed that at all; I shot quite a bit of this stuff lately through several 1911s, a SIG P220, a SIG P227 and an FNX-45.

I have fired at least 500 rounds of this ammo through these various .45 pistols with exactly zero malfunctions.

It does seem a smidge dirtier than some other ammo, but perhaps that's only because I expected it to be ...

I didn't notice anything special, one way or another, about it. I pulled the trigger, it went bang, and repeated. I will buy it again.
