Performance Center Shield

Anybody have one yet? I was looking at one locally, nice trigger, neat sights, not sure about the porting, but their price was $599 which IMO is way too much.

MSRP from Smith is $499. I dont personally see a reason for a "performance" carry gun. A carry gun could have a 12 pound trigger and in a time of crisis when your life depended on it you could pull the trigger and you would never realize it was 12 pounds. If thats what you like i say buy it though!

$490 is the price on Smiths sight and the regular on it $449 so street price will a good bit less. For a defense gun a porter barrel might not be a good idea.

I held one at a local LGS this weekend. I liked it. Nicer trigger than the standard Shield that they also had. I also liked the fiber optic sights. They were also asking $599 for it since it was brand new and they only received one. They said that the price would come down in a few months to the $450 range.
I don't think that the one very small port on each side of the barrel will hurt anything at all as a CCW pistol. The slide has 3 port openings per side but the barrel just has one port per side. But I have carried a Glock 23C concealed before.
