Just a quick note to mention that my wife and I went for our interview at Immigration (USCIS) today and I was approved for permanent residence. 25 months in the making, but I feel very privileged to be allowed to be here.

How is this gun-related? Well, I may just trundle through the Dallas Market Hall gunshow on Sunday and select something 1911-shaped to celebrate ;)

first off, congratulations! trust me, i know what its like :)

is that 25 months from the submission of your petition? me and my fiancee are going through the same thing right now, her being from canada. she just got her visa and will be coming out in a couple months. we submitted our i-129f form in early december of '06 and she just got her visa like 2 weeks ago. when did you submit for permanent residence?

Nice, congrats from a fellow green card holder!!! I'm currently waiting on my naturalization papers. Another few months....

No 1911s will be there for sale ;) but I'm supposed to work Denton County Sports Assn. table (L-16) at Market Hall on Sunday, so swing by if ya can and I'll at least shake your hand. :)

Thank you all very much - citizenship is still 3 years away, but if I get it you can be assured that I'll be voting for the RBKA-candidates :D

Yes, we submitted the petition about a week after our marriage - it took 25 months from that point. Good luck to you guys - it can be very frustrating at times but hang in there - there is a finish-line eventually ;)

Greybeard - will do :D

My Daughter

My daughter married a Dane.

He couldn't remain here while waiting for his Permanent Residence to come through, so they moved to the UK for the 2+ years it took for his paperwork.

My second granddaughter was born over there while they were waiting.

They're back now.

I have some appreciation for what you went through.

Congratulations.

And welcome.

Welcome from another GC'er.

One thing though, when you go to buy, you also take at least 90 days worth of utility bills with you as well as driving licence and GC.

Last time even my DL with my address was insufficient......:banghead:

Bureaocracy, aint it great..

Welcome AndyC. My husband is in the first year of his 10 year greencard and he has made full use of his CCW. Glad you are taking advantage of your rights here. Have fun!

Congrats!

I've been a PR according to USCIS since 6/30/2005, even though my status was adjusted 9/14/04...

FYI for those not in the know...

You have to be a permanent resident (green card holder) for 5 years before you can apply for citizenship...

Yes I have been here since '88 my GC is about to expire again so Ithink I am going to start the process for citizenship. I did however get my Gun Permit Friday :) Now to shoot a few to see what I like.
