So, anyone else making the trip to the Pistol Championships at Camp Perry?

It'll be my second year this time around, again with the Ottawa Sportsmen's Club junior pistol team (aka the junior Team Springfield), and I'll be shooting both .22 and .45 this year as opposed to last year's .22 only Made In America match, which I won :D

So...are YOU going? post in!

I am going, will go thru the Small Arms Firing School, SAFS, then coming home, just getting my feet wet for CMP leg matches. I shoot high power and have been up there 2 years for that and shoot many leg matches, it is the pistol I need information on when I get there.

Good luck and have a safe drive. Tell Ron that Dan from the MTU club said hi and the new pistols are in.

I have never been there, for a non participant what can I see and do?
I assume there will be vendors and other things.

Check the CMP website at www.odcmp.com. They have a list of vendors that will be there on Commercial Row. All the big names and good prices on bullets, powder, etc. The service brances, Navy, Army, etc. will have their vans there as well. Ed Masaki runs a clinic on how to build a .45 wad gun and they show movies in the base theater.

First year competitor, but unfortunately I can only make it for the day of the President's Pistol Match. That tab would look good on my uniform...

Little Loudmouth is at Perry.
He's gone through the Small Arms Firing School.
Had practice shut down due to thunderstorms in the afternoon.
And had the hut he's staying in flood due to more thunderstorms overnight. He slept with all his equipment on the bed along with him to keep it dry.
Sounds like he's having fun or, at least, having the full "Camp Perry Experience."

Posted this on GT today, so it a C&P There are a few pics on GT FWIW.

It's been a long four days, and I have very little energy left. We did the Army Marksmanship Unit's Small Arms Firing School, M9 class. We've shot rifles down there the last nine times, and that's quite the work out. Still the pistol shooting is no cake walk.

This year, we decided to shoot the SAFS, with the M9 Beretta service pistol. After SAFS, we shot the M9EIC match. I didn't shoot as well has I had hoped. While I did a lot of practice this year, shooting the Beretta is not my strong point.

While we were there, we attended the first shot ceremonies. That was quite something to see. They had the Ohio Governor on hand to make a speech, as well as a lot of area dignitaries. There was a lot of Generals on hand, too. Also the NRA President, who we got to meet. They had para-shooters jump in out of a CH47 Chinook. They were bringing the flag that flew over the state capitol. There was also a low flyover of F16s.

I have some pictures, but can only upload a few. They rest will go into my photobucket account when I have the time.

Since I got to go up in the CH47 before they took off, I probably have the only pics of inside.

I think I sit back, and enjoy some of my tax free booze I got at he PX.

Some day....maybe next year even. I'm not ready yet. Just started with the .22 a few months ago and will be adding a .45 real soon. My mentor will be there.....he should be throwing up some low Master scores. Watched him clean the timed and rapids last week.....over & over.

I was there, went through the Small Arms Firing School, didn’t shoot as well as I had hoped for either, purchased a Kart barrel for my .45 leg gun I am building, just got back yesterday, could only stay for the school. I shoot high power, but loved the short amount of time the leg match took, at the rifle school we were out there for 5 to 6 hrs, pistol, you are in and out. Will shoot more. During that thunder storm, there was a tornado heading for Perry, luckily it went out into the lake. There’s always next year.
