They all work fine.

Buy what you can afford to shoot.

I flip a coin because I don't think I'll ever need to shoot anybody. Just as long as it goes boom, it will work.

Pesonally, I usually have Speers Gold Dot in my 9mm. 124g +P police surplus, because it cost me $13 a box of 50. Or what ever HP's I have on top.

Double Tap Gold Dots 165gr.

I've run a similar poll in the past as have many others. Gold Dots always come out on top, and usually by a wide margin.

still, I believe that there are many quality defensive rounds that will do the job just fine.

Ranger Ammo

I got the email back from winchester about the ranger ammo not working in specific guns and this is what they said "Whoever wrote this in a web site does not have a clue. Our Ranger ammunition is made to SAAMI Specifications and will work in any gun that is made to SAAMI specifications." That comes from a senior tech and pretty much explains it all in that sentence so we know that that guy on that webiste I got the info from is confirmed as stupid.

I like Speer Gold Dots or Federal HST, but shoot Winchester Rangers and Remington Golden Sabers becuase I get a pretty good deal on them and they work fine in my pistols.

How come no choice for FMJ WWB? Not all of us are trying to the maximum amount of damage. A warning injury will suffice for some of us.

My personal preference is for the 9mm Hornady 147 gr. JHP TAP "CQ" load in my Glock 17.

Tests in calibrated ordnance gelatin show that it penetrates 14+ inches and expands to .55 inches reliably. That is what I want. You may want the same or something entirely different.

You should shoot what both works best for you in your gun and is affordable to you.

Don't waste your time worrying what everyone else thinks about SD loads, do some research and decide for yourself.

All the best,

GS
