Well I did it. I turned 40 (Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me...)

The wife has generously offered to buy me my own trap machine to celebrate the occasion. Looking for something along the lines of the Atlas AT50 12v model.

Are there others I should consider? Is the Atlas an OK machine? The few sources I find are all priced the same, does anyone know of a place running sales or discounting them? I surely not above a used machine either.....

Any information, experience, reccommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks.

(Like I'm gonna have time to run it anyway.... :( )

I have no idea Smoke, but one of my buddies told me you can get a pretty good one for around $750. I'll try to get a name or a link next Sunday, when I'm told we're shooting a round of "flurries".

Anyway HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

You share a birthday with my mother, who turned 76 today. :)

I saw a few in an issue of Field and Stream a few weeks ago going for less than a hundred bucks. I'm sure you are looking for something more advanced though.

Smoke--I have a Promatic Solo that I've used for a few years now with no problems. The wheels make it easy to move around and position and there is a ground spike under the battery to anchor it. You just wheel the rig to where you want it, push the handle down to anchor it and start shooting. The trap itself is mounted on a trailer ball that lets you set up about any angle or elevation you care too. If I set the wheels up on about 6" blocks and angle the trap up on the ball I can throw perfect "teal " shots like at the clay ranges. You can pretty much duplicate any shot you encounter at sporting clays. I use a model airplane remote cotroller and servo to trigger my trap (cost about $80. at a model shop) so I don't have to drag cords around. Good Luck what ever you chose.
