PF-9, a word of caution

That's why I don't buy Kel-Tec!

Just kidding.

This is why I wait a while, to become thoroughly familiar with the gun, before attempting a detail strip. If I can't find a few good videos on youtube or someone I know that can show me I usually don't do it.

I admit the huge bottle of lock-tite is hilarious. :) I will throw that gun in the mail to ya pcwirepro.

Dont worry I will use extra padding so its not damaged in transit by road vibrations.

This was a fluke and people who dont like Kel Tecs should just shut up and go away.

The only opinion allowed is a positive opinion of Kel Tec.

If the OP was asking for opinions, then by all means, provide them, but offer some intelligent and factual insight for why you have the opinion you do. But if you're going to volunteer them where they are not requested, you most definitely need to qualify them.

"Kel Tecs are crap because they use locktite" tells me that you have an unqualified negative opinion of the gun, and that you don't understand a thing about semi-permanent securing of mechanical parts with threaded fasteners.

Listen MachIV, I was making disparaging comments about a item, you are making judgement calls about a person. There is a difference. One is ok, the other is not.

Wether or not my negative opinion of Kel Tec is "Qualified" or not, really doesnt let you come off making judgement calls about my "semi-permanent securing of mechanical parts with threaded fasteners" know-how.

I think KelTec makes a pretty poor product. You dont. Lets leave it at that without getting all personal.

I don't want to say I told ya so, but...

Its ok Southpaw I really dont care :) its all good.

I really think this is going to degenerate into something less than constructive and personal, so I will heed the warning and exit this thread stage left.

/whoosh! Dont buy low quality guuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnssssssssssssss...... <fades off into the distance>

you are making judgement calls about a person

No, I'm making an observation. And it's a perfectly reasonable one, based on your assertion that the use of anaerobic thread locking compounds to secure a screw (what they were specifically engineered for and often called for by manufacturers) is not acceptable.

This is not personal at all, at least not to me. If I had called you a moron, that would be personal.

If you can't handle being told that you don't understand something when you demonstrate that statement to be true, then you have an issue that will cause many problems in many areas of life. Backing up one unqualified opinion with another that is factually erroneous will not help you to maintain an audience.

You have an opportunity here to tell us how many Kel-Tec firearms you've owned and what went wrong with them. We're all ears. But if the answer is "Well, a friend of my dads......." or "I read on another forum", it's really not your opnion anyway.

You never answered my question...

I love my Kel Tec PF-9! Just over 500 rounds through it now. I no way near do a complete detailed strip of the pistol like you did, but thanks for the heads up. I just do the basic field strip and clean. Very easy to take down and reassemble. Not one miss fire or failure to feed or eject and handles 147+P well, but of course there is a "bit" of a kick, lol. I am much more comfortable shooting the 115gn, the 124gn and the +P versions of both out of it. Great little pistol, well built, easily carried and concealed. For the price I was expecting a p.o.s. pistol but it surprised me. Kel Tec did well with this pistol imo.
