Philadelphia's Useless Gun Buyback...

What better way to get rid of that old broken gun that would cost too much to fix & let them have to dispose of it and get a coupon for clothes in exchange?

It looks like win-win to me. :neener:

Question:
Why would a criminal trade his gun for a clothing coupon

Answer: A criminal wouldn't.

An honest person who feels he needs clothes more than he needs a gun would.

These things are designed partially as publicity stunts, but primarily as "resource drains" designed to reduce the overall number of guns available in the civilian pool, based on a flawed theory that asserts that the fewer "guns there are on the streets", the fewer crimes will be committed with them.

It's a very appealing theory to the kind of person who would say something like, "well, obviously, if the criminal didn't have a gun, he couldn't shoot you with it."

I'm with the Geek. There is this mistaken idea that more guns equals more crime. So conversely fewer guns will equal fewer crimes. The gun in my holster, and the gun in the jacket pocket of Mr. BG are the same. If we got rid of both of them we would have less crime. If we got rid of one of them we would still have less crime, and it doesnt matter which one.

Somebody needs to get out in front of the collection point and act as a filter for the decent stuff that might come through....Provided local laws are adhered to, of course....

Probably can't do it now, but my trick many years back at one of those inane "Buy-Back" thingies . . .

Buy the cheapest Daisy at Wally-World ($22 O-T-D), go to buy back, sell for $40. Return to Wally-World, buy another cheap Daisy, return to buy-back, get $40 [anyone see a pattern here?]

At the end of the day, I took my "Ill-Gotten Gains", bought a few bricks of .22LR, some shotgun ammo, and a box of .357Mag.

Win-Win-Win...The Looney Left got a warm fuzzy from "getting guns off the streets", I ended up with a bunch of ammo, and some folks didn't get to sell their guns, 'cause the Loonies ran out of money :D

We thought about that at work. It was a slow night so we where looking at the air pistols/rifles. Some of them look very real. Someone suggested, "If there was ever a gun buyback, we could just get all those that look real and cost $20 and sell the pistols to them for $50." Nobody saw a flaw in the plan. :D

Stand up and be counted . Ladies & Gentlemen .Here in Auz we've been through the whole buy back thing! I would like to think that all the naughty People with illegal fire arms which they were going to use against the average citicern .Thought to them selves .Wow heres my chance The Gov has told me to hand em in so I shall. :what:
That girls and boys ends this weeks fairy story from Gov house Canbera .
Yes and of course all the law abibing shooters can be the ones to suffer Knee jerk reactions from the Gov .Noboby seems .Remember their History very well . The only reason that Japan (& I mean no dis respect to anyone here) Did not Invade Australia during ww2 was that Spys had reported back to their superiurs in 1938 that nearly every house in Australia had a firearm. Therefore there would be very heavy resistance. I dont consider myself to be a survialist or an extremist. I do choose to live & work in remote areas. But it does erk me when the freedom of choice is taken out of the hands of the population by the very people that have been chosen to represnt. The wishes of the majority. with out consulting the majority. Examples of this have been Hiltler& Stalin & their polices
Gun buy backs solve nothing :fire:

If we got rid of all the guns here in Philadelphia, then we'd be as safe as D.C. :scrutiny:

Another poster hit it right on the head... this is just another publicity stunt by the corrupt and greedy city government here.
