Keep an eye on your rearview mirror, keep the cell phone handy, keep the "tool of choice" handy as well. Stay Safe.
Hope these creeps are caught soon.

A series of carjackings has police in Montgomery County issuing a warning to drivers to be aware in case they're being followed.

Lower Merion police issued the warning to residents after another person was carjacked in the township on their way home Wednesday night.

"A total of three incidents have occurred following a similar pattern," stated Police Superintendent Joseph J. Daly. "While we do not want to alarm our residents, we feel it is important to alert citizens to this particular crime so they can take precautions and avoid being victimized."

At about 10 p.m., a Wynnewood woman was driving home through west and southwest sections of Philadelphia and said she did not notice a vehicle was following her.

As she pulled into her driveway, the carjacker parked on the street, ran up to her car and took her pocketbook, cell phone, keys and drove off in her 2005 white Nissan SUV.

"Our department is aggressively investigating this disturbing series of crimes," reported Daly. "Until the perpetrators have been apprehended, we ask that citizens exercise caution, be alert to vehicles following them and to call 911 immediately if they suspect they are being followed. Too often suspicious activity goes unnoticed or unreported, which hinders our ability to apprehend suspects."

a good argument for situational awareness.. as I don't think I could shoot someone running randomly up to me in the dark.

Any of you LEO/specops types know how to tell if a car's following you at night? I can't ever tell past the style of headlights whether or not it's something to be concerned about.

Please note that the same threat exists pretty much everywhere, not just in Philly and environs. The advice to be careful and be prepared (locked doors, situational awareness, firearm where possible, cell phone etc.) is well taken no matter where you are.

I work in Wynnewood and this is the first time I've heard of the carjackings. Thanks for the heads up. As others have said..it's all about being aware of what's going on around you.

I'm neither LEO nor specops, but you should check your rearview mirror from time to time to see if a car seems to be following you. If a car does seem to be following you, go around the block, instead of going straight home. If the car follows you around the block, you should be calling 911, and not heading home.

Dayum... thats close to home.

At least I'll finally be able to get a CHP next time I'm back on furlough (a full year AFTER I signed on with the USMC, but thats another thread, that I'm sure has been rehashed repeatedly).
