There was an armed robbery incident the other night at UC Riverside where I work. The following is a copy of the email notice that was sent out:

Re: Armed Robbery in Lot #6

On Tuesday 02-24-04, at about 10:30 PM, an armed robbery was committed in lower Lot #6. The victim was walking to her vehicle and saw two males standing by another vehicle. One of the male suspects approached her and asked for directions. The victim told the suspect that she did not know the directions and continued to her vehicle. The suspect followed her, grabbed her, and then showed her a dark long-barreled handgun while demanding her wallet and cell phone. A second male suspect also approached the victim during the commission of this crime.

After the victim produced her wallet and cell phone, the two suspects ran toward a waiting vehicle, which contained a third male suspect. The suspects drove away onto Canyon Crest Dr. towards Martin Luther King Blvd. in a metallic silver four-door sedan.

If you have any information regarding this incident please call the University of California Police Department (UCPD) immediately at
909-787-5222 or the UCPD Investigations Bureau at 909-787-5387.

Chief of Police

The University campus has quite a few car break ins and thefts, and the occasional sexual assault. I'm not surprised that this happened. It's not fair that honest, law abiding citizens in California cannot carry and defend themselves.

CA carry

Well,....we CAN, but the hoops we have to jump through are pretty vague:
and it varies from town to town.....I have a couple of friends on the Palm Springs P.D., but I live a few miles beyond their city limits: the LEA chief that I need "permission" from is WELL known to turn down CC applications from "regular" law abiding citizens i.e. -- I'm not wealthy nor a celebrity. It just really pi**es me off:banghead:

I bet the BGs had a CCW. Because you're not allowed to have a loaded gun with you (extra illegal on campus) if you don't.

I went to school there. Back then the RPD was REAL busy trying to keep the BGs down the hill (where they belong). It was just a matter of time until their efforts were overwhelmed.
