Picked up a Belgian made Browning T Bolt that was in poor condition. It was topped with a Esquire 4x81 scope with fine cross hairs made in West Germany. I dought it had ever been cleaned and looked like it rattled around in a truck for years. It is a 1966 model. Well I took it apart and used some rust buster and other stuff to clean it up and then stripped the stock, sanded and re-oiled it and cleaned up the scope as best I could and put it all back together.
Have to find a magazine for it, but will test it as a single shot.
Should be a good little shooter.

Due to the poor condition you described, I'm wondering if your T Bolt might be a rifle saddled with one of Browning's infamous "salt wood" stocks. If so, the only permanent "fix" is a new stock, unfortunately.

Allen;

Did you remove the barreled action from the stock & inspect for rust? This question comes from the same place Swamp Wolf's comment did. Many of those Belgium Browning T-Bolts had "salt stocks". He's right, the only cure is a new stock. But, if the gun shows no rust pits, rust, or other signs of corrosion, you got a good one.

Now if you run across one of those with a left hand bolt, they do exist (!), let me know. I'm just over the hill in Cascade County and am willing to go get one. Have you checked gunparts dot com to see if they've got a line on a magazine for you?

After consulting with some others I found out I got lucky and it is NOT a salt gun. Under the barrel was no rust or pitting. I think it just hadn't been taken care of. Got a big gun show coming up next weekend 3/29-29 in Kalispell. Will check around there for a mag. All in all it turned out pretty good for a $100.00 investment.

Allen;

Midway shows Belgium T-Bolt .22lr mags in stock. Either 5 or 10 round, $28.00 - 37.00 bucks + shipping. Part #'s: 5 round 965766, 10 round 248988. I doubt you'll find one that cheap at the gun show, and these'll be new.
