A coworker was selling some of his farther in-laws guns today . I picked up a Savage 340 30-30 for $75 and a Stevens 87A .22 rifle $50 . Were they any good when new ?

I also picked up a few guns that don't fit in this forum that I know a little about .

Still, if they are in decent condition, you did it too him.
Twice!

Better send flowers & candy Monday.

A5 Light 12ga.
870 Wingmaster 20ga.

14 boxes .40 Golden Saber
2 50rd. boxes .40 Hydra'Shok
2 50rd. boxes .40 UMC
6 boxes .22 Remington Hi-Speed

The 340 is in good condition . Fair amount of lost bluing . The rifling is excellent as is the ugly wood stock . The 87A is in fair condition .

Wingmaster is considered a pretty good shotgun, particularly if it's an older one. You'll not get hurt on any of those

87A aka "click-clack gun." They're a hoot!
340's look pretty good compared to a lot of stuff being produced today. I've got one in 222
and a click clack as well...

Yeah, that 87 has a unique action . Hold the trigger back after firing and the bolt stays open . Lock the bolt and you have a single shot .

I put them up for sale , surprisingly there is a lot of interest in the 340 . I must have set the price to low , they are offering my asking price . It has been for sale for 1 hour and I had 3 offers on it . I thought the shotguns would go first .

stevens 87A, my first rifle

Father gave me one of these for Christmas when I was 13, about 33 years ago.
Still have it, it shoots better than I do with the 1.5x Cub scope mounted to it. Replaced the firing pin a couple years ago. It will cycle ANY ammo I have fed it, all my other 'modern' .22's are picky.

Great rifle, I would not hesitate to give $150 for another one in good condition.
