:DI have been debating on getting one of these for a while. Coincidentally @chaim thread on buying a .22 got me thinking about the range I belong to shutting down at the end of November. This range has one killer gun store as part of the range and all guns are on sale at 10% off. I had decided that I may need a Gen 5 Glock 19, but I missed out. They had 1 Glock 44 priced at $379.
So, I was going to the range today to shoot my CP33 and they had the G44 still in display. I asked my favorite rep there what kind of deal we could make and he said “If you want it I will take care of you.”
And that he did. I walked out with a brand new G44 for $316 total, including tax and fees. Yeehaw! :D

Not a bad deal at all. Tomorrow I am going back to the range to shoot my new .22.

One suggestion is to follow the instructions on loading the magazines so that you don't have failure to feed issues. Part of why some people have feeding issues is that they don't load the mags correctly. Remember the G44 magazine is a semi double stack design which is unlike a true single stack like Ruger and Browning mags. With the G44 mag, each rim is offset while the bullets stay pretty much in line. You can get rim lock easier in a G44 mag.

Though I don't for see you having an issue since you also have a CP33. Both are similar in design as far as being a semi double stack.

Thank you for the advice. For the CP33 I was going to buy a mag loader, but I think I prefer to just take a little more time and load them by hand. I get the cartridge s lined up perfectly.
And yes, believe it or not, I read the G44 manual snd the the part about magazine loading. ;)
(Queue sarcasm mode) It’s amazing how much information is in those things that tells you how to handle and operate the gun from the smart people that build them.(sarcasm mode off) :D
I have never understood people that never read the manuals that come with their guns. :scrutiny:
I did notice that the mag springs seem pretty stiff. I haven’t loaded the mags, but depressed the follower with my pinky finger.

I am looking forward to shooting it today. I have a variety of 22 ammo to try but I think I will stick with the 40 grain ammo for the first few sessions to break it in.

One thing I find that helps is to load the mags to full capacity and let them sit a day. The unload and reload them, then let them sit another day. I have been doing that ever since I first got my Kel-Tec PMR30. Doing this helped quite a bit. And I do it with all my semi-double stack, double stack and quad stack rimfire magazines now.

It's amazing how many do not read the manuals then complain about stuff. And yes that is the exact reason why some of the Youtube reviewers posted negative reviews on the G44 when it first came out- they didn't read the manual nor load the magazines correctly.

They're fun to shoot, I enjoy mine. Like any other .22LR it may or may not like a particular round, for instance I had one lot of Fedearl Auto Match that shot fine, another batch it didn't like much.

The Timberwolf (100% serialized frame) and the Freedom Wolf (80% frame) from Lone Wolf Distributing are both compatible with Gen 3-5 slides. These frames can use Gen 4 or Gen 5 lower parts. The exceptions are the slide stop lever and trigger pin, those must be Gen 3/4 parts.

I have three Freedom Wolf frames, one with a G44 slide, one with a Gen 5 G19 MOS slide, and one with a Gen 5 Zaffiri Precision slide.

Bummer the range is closing, is it insurance or neighbors or something else causing them to close? :( I know you haven’t lived in that area for too long, I hope there is another place that you can shoot nearby.

Sweet pistol, I think you’re going to like it a lot.:)

I added a Hi Viz FO front sight that matches most of the front sights my other Glocks wear, and I did a Wolff 5.0 lb striker spring/reduced power plunger spring to reduce trigger pull weight. Been 100 pct reliable with a feel that helps me carry over to my centerfire Glocks.

If yours is like mine it won’t be a superior tackdriver, like my Ruger Mk pistols are, but it will better replicate centerfire autos for good practice and should shoot well enough in your hands to be plenty of fun.

Let us know how it shoots for you when you get back from the range. :)

Stay safe.

The range is closing because the non shooting businessmen that started it decided they didn’t want to be in this business any longer, from what I understand. It’s VERY aggravating because this range was one of the main attractions to living in this town for me.
Oh well. Enough whining. Now onto the G44. :)

I like it! I put 220 rounds through it today. I had a bunch of jams and failures to extract in the first hundred rounds but once it settled down it was a fun little shooter.
I found that it does not like Federal Ultra Match. That’s okay, neither do I. It seems to like Federal Black and Aguila Interceptor. CCI Velocitor? Maybe.

I plan to take it to the range Tuesday for some more break In activities.

These are what my G44 likes. My 10-22 isn't quite as fond of them (obviously). ;)

Thank you. I am not familiar with that one. I will have to keep an eye out for it.

It’s funny how Federal has so many great rounds yet the Federal “Gold Medal” Ultra Match just plain sucks out of all my .22 LR guns. Maybe I got a bad batch. I sure won’t waste any money finding out by buying another brick of it.

I own a shop. If you think guns are bad you should hear people complain about cars. Id say 10% of the things I get in the shop would have been prevented by looking in the manual.

As far as the 44, ive used almost exclusively 36 and 38 grain ammo and with the stock mags I have no issues at all. The promags run the last 12 or so rounds great but rarely if ever make it through the first 2-3.

And ive been loading finicky rimfires since I was in high-school with this baby.

What is that gun? I don’t think I have seen one of those.

GRENdel p-30. Before Kelgren founded Keltec and made the pmr and a host of other ugly guns he had Grendel and made the p-30. A 30 rd 22 mag. He also made a carbine version.

Ah, I remember reading about those, but I hadn’t seen one. Thank you. Cool gun, by the way.

Just a ho-hum shooter. Pretty reliable but I hear some weren't. The rear sight is crude and mounted in the rubber so it can wiggle. Screws holding the gun together. Barrel nut etc etc. One step up from a Lorcin or jennings. IMO. I actually traded a j-22 for that one. Probably got the best of the trade, but not by a huge amount

I don't recall seeing many of the carbine. Ive seen 3 of the pistol.

Well, it looks cool anyway. Reminds me of something you’d see in Star Wars or Firefly. :D

I think you’re onto something there. So far I have put 450 rounds through it. Up until I hit 375 rounds I was having random FTE’s and jams, usually on the first round fired from a full magazine with Federal Black box. Even still, I really like this pistol.

I was kind of skeptical when I was first told to do this but it made a big difference with my Kel-Tec PMR30 magazines. I now do it with all of my semi double stack, double stack and quad stack rimfire magazines.
