Went looking for a Buckmark at the gunshow today - high and low. All the ones there were over $300 and didn't have fiber optic front sights. I didn't wanna spend over $250. Stainless wasn't that important to me.

After leaving the gunshow empty handed, because I couldn't find one with fiber optic sights, I went to Academy and picked this up for $248.00. I can always change out the sights myself. And, Academy's price was over $60+ cheaper than the cheapest price at the show.

Anyway, can't wait to try it out tomorrow :) - I have enough large calibers. I wanted something for plinking. And, maybe I can get my wife out to the range now. Also, with a son on the way, this'll be a great trainer for him :)

I rented a Buckmark last weekend to try and decide which 22 I wanted. I like the grip and feel of the Buckmarks the best :)

Very nice, I looked at a Buckmark at the Houston how today, I think it's a limited edition with the damascene looking slide and the oak leaf grips. Almost got it, but it was around $450 so I let it stay.

Yea, I saw that one. It had the fiber optic sight I wanted, but t was too expensive.

Schramm's had some Buckmarks too - but they were stainless and they wanted around $350 or so for them. I was trying to stay at $250 or less.

Almost bought a fixed sight Ruger 22/45 at Shramm's - I like the white dot sights. But Ruger 22s are a pain in the butt to disassemble.

I got one a couple of years ago. I picked it over Ruger just because of the way it fitted. No problems except some screws coming loose, Loc Tited them and no more problem.
Mine is the Camper model.
Fun little hand gun.

God bless Academy. They don't have the greatest selection and they are really prissy about letting you handle the guns, but they are there for us with decent prices and in my local store, competent help.

What screws came loose? Ya gotta take the top screws off to clean the gun, so I wouldn't want to locktite those.

With the way the gun was made, I couldn't use a cleaning rod from the back of the barrel to the front - as U do with most guns. And, my damn 22 rod didn't wanna go in after the brush went in from the front - I think it's slightly bent.

So, I finally gave up and just used my 22 cal rifle boresnake to clean the barrel.

If all goes well today with it, I plan to replace the black sights with fiberoptic sights. I found some online for this model for around $45.

When taking it apart, be careful if you remove the right side grip screws as there is a spring and some small parts under there than easily fall out. IF these screws get loose enough the trigger bar can slip locking up the gun. Because of the small easily lost parts I'd not suggest trying to fix at the range, just check these screws be tight before heading to the range.

Needing two different sized hex-head wrenches to take down the Buckmark for cleaning has always been to me its largest flaw, fortunately you don't need to do it very often.

.22 Pistols is the one place the big local gunstores (Academy, Carter's etc.) pretty regularly beat gunshow prices.

Don't know which on-line sights you are talking about but check out Dawson Precision before buying.

I was looking at the WIlliams Firesights.

Thanks for the top about the grips. The instructions stated to not remove the grips. I'll make sure to check the screws for tightness everytime I take it to the range

I did have an issue taking it apart for the 1st time yesterday. I got the slide off. But, the guiderod/firing pin assembly is supposed to come out according to the instructions.

Well, that sucker will not come out of the slide. It is in a polymer housing, so I don't want to break the plastic. But I tried everything I could, and it won't come out.

I use a little (very little) blue Loc Tite on the barrel/receiver screws. Have not had to remove to clean yet. Use air in a can to blow out residue, clean bolt face and bore. Haven't had a problem yet.

I have a Browning Buckmark (stock # 051361490) Classic Plus SE, with
Rosewood Laminate Pro-Target Grips, and the Tru-Glo Marble (green)
fiber optic front sight; on a 5-1/2" bull barrel. :)

I bought a couple of extra Buckmark magazines and a brick of Federal
Champion ammo, so this gun will be one that makes the "field trip" to
the range this coming April 7th~! ;) :D

I think I saw a version similar to that, except it had an engraved slide. It was nice, but at $450, more than I wanted to spend yesterday.

I found a set of fiber optics online for about $40. I'll be buying that soon.
