Picked up a new toy

I made a mighty effort to buy one of those several years ago, when AMT was still around. I was drooling endlessly over that and the Automag in .45 Winchester Magnum.
It was only due to my dealer having issues actually getting one in that I threw in the towel.

I understand they're loads of fun and like the 7.62x25, incredibly loud. I do appreciate the pictures; I've never had the pleasure to get close enough to inspect one.

I'm guessing M1 Carbines are restricted in Australia?

auto ordinance/ kahr makes new ones to gi spec you could get the folding paratrooper one

They are quite loud, I was actually surprised how loud it was and the muzzle blast as well compared to my Desert Eagle.
I'd love to get an Auto Mag in .44AMT as well, one day maybe :)

M1 Carbines are rather hard to own and shoot here. I can own one on my collectors licence but it must be inoperable :( Sort of why I'm thinking of making one into a pistol, under 650mm and it can be a pistol here.

Cheers mate, if I removed the folding stock and keep it as a pistol grip I could probably own that as a pistol here.
Unfortunately semi auto centrefire rifles are very hard to own here :(

Nice cap gun
maybe some day you will find time to move up to a .22

Now thats what you plunk down when someone talking about big guns, waving a DEagle .50 or .500 revolver...

Seriously nice.

Very nice, indeed!

It reminds me of a project someone I know was making which was two 45 Auto slides welded together lengthwise so the finished 45 Auto would be about a foot long!

ahh there in lies the problem
and yes m1 carbines are loud i remember the first time i shot one after having shot garands
they are pretty similar in both recoil and noise

I owned a Kahr M1 Carbine awhile back, it was more on-par with my dad's AR-15. small, light(we fired BOTH one-handed, just for schnitz-n-giggles), and just a total blast to shoot. Problem was, there was a gross shortage of .30 Carbine ammo in my area, and the newer weapon couldn't fire the mil-spec ammo(lots of FTFs on the stuff before I threw in the towel), so I reluctantly got rid of it. I regret selling it, and I'm dying to get another.

Awesome looking pistol, hope you don't have any ammo shortages like I did!

Thanx guys,

On the range it ran quite well, only had a few issues which I'm sure I can work out when I start to reload for it.

The grip could be a little longer, another 5-10mm would be nice but its not a real problem.

From 25yards standing unsupported I was getting around 2-3 inch groups.

Not too bad for a fist trip with factory ammo, still plenty of room to improve which should be quite doable when I reload for it.

Its great fun to shoot and the noise and muzzle blast is quite impressive :)

I had a chance to buy one of these at my local shop this week for $350 and it was LNIB with five extra mags.

I held it, considered it, went home and slept on it. I got up the next day with the intention of going back to buy it and when I got there someone had purchased it about an hour prior:banghead:

Never been too interested in owning anything AMT but I regret not jumping on this one when I had the chance, it's really a damn cool gun!

Sounds like a heck of a deal, shame you missed out on it.

Don't think Ruger is still doing the .30, thats a great hand cannon you have there,,an Uncle Mikes rubber grip sleeve will help,,if you have the chance try firing it just after dark,,oh what a flash,,,

Hello friends and neighbors // Very nice handgun in a fun caliber, I hope you enjoy it.

I have a friend selling an AMT Hardballer .45, it is an awesome shooter, used as a bowling pin gun.

My M1 Carbine is a 1943 Underwood ,I'm glad I had never seen a .30ccal like yours when I bought my .30 Carbine BlackHawk, it would have been hard to turn down.

Yes, they still sell the BlackHawk in .30 carbine cal. although they discontinued it for a few years, IIRC 1996-1998. I think they go for around $450.00.

Cheers mate, I'll probably look into the grips as it was getting a little slippery after a while.
I'm looking forward to doing a night shoot with it :)

A 7inch 1911 is something I could have a lot of fun with.
Not quite as costly as I would have thought as well.

Though I would have to pay a bit to get one imported.
