Picked up a P365 today…

I tried out a P365 SAS, and was really impressed with the sighting system, and the ease of accurate fire. I may pick one up sometime soon.

Before you do that, try one out in low light. It may change your thoughts on that. I had a SAS and loved the sights, but in no or low light they were nearly invisible.

I liked my P365 so much I bought a 2nd.

When I started looking for a P365 the P365XL had just recently been released. But I wasn't sure what my carry method was going to be and if the XL would be too large. It was also difficult to even find ANY of P365 series for sale and they would be snapped up within hours after they hit the store shelves. I bought the first P365 series that was available, which happened to be a P365 Tac pac with 3 - 12rd magazines.

It felt squishy in my hand and the gap between the magazine and the grip module would sometimes pinch my hand. As soon as I found out that I could swap grip modules I bought an XL grip module which felt solid in my hand and didn't pinch.

After I decided upon my carry method I realized that I could handle the extra length of the XL slide. I needed a spare pistol anyway so I started saving and then stretched my budget past it's limit and bought a P365XL. But the only new version of the XL with the rear sight mounted in a dovetail groove in the slide itself, that was available in the Twin Cities, did not have a manual safety. So I had to scrounge up cash for the safety lever parts.

I then proceeded to some internal finishing work as well as weighting and reshaping of the grip module, and other modifications. I had to replace the holster mounted inside my fanny pack with a longer one to fit the XL slide and I'm now ready to start carrying the P365XL. My regular carry will be with the P365XL in the fanny pack and I will pocket carry with the P365.

With some minor grip modifications the XL grip module fits my hand like a glove and I can shoot it well. I'm still not comfortable with the shorter P365 grip module, but I am going to practice with it until I am more comfortable shooting it because the short grip module just works better for pocket carry.

So overall I'm quite happy with my P365 and P365XL. I love the configurability of this platform as well as the parts interchangeability. When my budget allows I'll probably buy an X-Macro grip module and try that out. Two slide lengths and 3 grip module heights gives you a lot of choices to best fit your needs. And that is besides the compensated versions.
